Their story
Caplugs (also known as Protective Industries, Inc.) is a U.S.-headquartered manufacturer providing protective solutions that prevent damage, contamination, or quality issues during manufacturing, assembly, shipping, and storage. Their products, from plastic caps and plugs to custom-moulded components, are used across industries including automotive, aerospace, medical devices, industrial equipment, and oil & gas.
With rapid global growth and acquisitions across six countries, Caplugs embarked on a significant transformation: migrating from their long-standing on-premise Dynamics NAV system to the cloud-based Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC).
The challenge
Caplugs’ internal NAV team was small, and while they had the business knowledge, they lacked the technical and functional BC expertise to execute a multi-country migration. On top of that, they were struggling to get the proper white glove service needed from different Microsoft consulting firms — project plans lacked direction, customer service was slow, and there was no clear global architecture to guide the migration.
The stakes were high: Caplugs needed to move multiple acquired entities across the U.S., Canada, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and San Marino onto D365 BC, and they needed with a plan they could trust.
The solution
Caplugs turned to our team at Talent for our deep expertise and proven track record in Dynamics 365 BC. Rather than relying solely on an external consultancy, we built a hybrid model combining full-time employees, independent contractors, and specialist consultants to form a high-performing project team.
We tapped into our global D365 network to deliver specialist roles including:
- Dynamics 365 BC Developers
- Dynamics 365 BC Solution Architects
- Dynamics 365 BC Implementation Consultants
- EDI and WMS Consultants
This mix gave Caplugs the benefits of both in-house knowledge and on-demand expertise that was scalable, cost-effective, and could accelerate delivery while reducing reliance on expensive Microsoft partners.
The result
- 5 successful hires to date (3 full-time employees and 2 contractors) across BC development, consulting, and solution architecture, with a sixth happening shortly.
- 100% offer acceptance rate, reflecting the strong candidate–client fit.
- Rapid time-to-hire: under 3 weeks for permanent roles, under 1 week for contractors.
- Significant cost savings: contractors secured through Talent at $140–180/hr compared to $250/hr+ through Microsoft partners, plus 3 full-time hires brought in-house to further reduce consultancy spend.
- Global delivery confidence: Talent now supports Caplugs’ D365 program across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, providing the project leadership and roadmap that had been missing.
The impact? Caplugs now has a clear path forward, a trusted project lead, and the right blend of talent in place to drive their international Dynamics 365 BC migration.
