Overview

A well-established, financial services firm with an enterprise-grade operating model and strong reputation in the New Zealand market is investing heavily in business-wide transformation to support its next phase of growth.

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager – Transformation Office to lead the end-to-end delivery of strategic initiatives across Technology, Operations, and Business/Product teams. This is a high-impact role responsible for driving multiple concurrent projects from discovery through to delivery and benefits realisation, with ownership of governance, budget, risk, and outcomes.

The ideal candidate will bring strong end-to-end delivery experience, confidence working with senior stakeholders, and the ability to operate across both business and technology change in a structured, delivery-focused environment.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive experience in end-to-end project management, delivering multiple projects simultaneously, including those with budgets around $1M, specifically within a financial services environment.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills to define project scope, objectives, and success metrics.
  • Proven ability to manage projects across various domains such as digital customer platforms, new product launches, and operational improvements within the financial services sector.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams and leadership.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile/Scrum, PRINCE2) and practical experience in applying them.
  • Financial and commercial acumen for managing project budgets and ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.

Also Required:

  • Familiarity with project portfolio management practices.
  • Experience presenting project updates to leadership with concise and impactful insights.
  • Capability to mentor junior project managers or coordinators in effective delivery approaches.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Technology, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum Master) are highly desirable.

Other Requirements

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project scopes and organisational priorities.
  • Willingness to manage external vendors and partners while overseeing vendor performance.
