Workday Integration Lead
Location: Melbourne
Duration: 12-month FTE Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Workday Integration Lead to join a large enterprise organisation and take technical ownership of its Workday integration landscape.
This is a hands-on technical leadership position combining major integration project delivery with ongoing BAU support and knowledge transfer. You will work closely with Payroll, People & Culture, Finance, Workforce Planning and Technology teams to design, deliver and optimise secure, scalable and reliable Workday integrations.
The role will be approximately:

  • 50% Project Work – delivering new integrations, enhancements and transformation initiatives
  • 40% BAU – production support, troubleshooting, monitoring, incident resolution and continuous improvement
  • 10% Knowledge Transfer – documentation, mentoring and transferring technical knowledge to internal teams

Key Responsibilities
You will lead the design, development, testing, deployment and support of Workday integrations, using technologies including Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, APIs, web services and middleware platforms.
You will also:

  • Lead Workday integration projects and technical workstreams from design through to production.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical integration solutions.
  • Manage integration testing, deployment, cutover, release management and production support.
  • Monitor integration performance and troubleshoot complex production issues.
  • Develop integration specifications, data mappings, technical documentation and support procedures.
  • Work closely with internal technology teams, Workday specialists, vendors and implementation partners.
  • Improve automation, integration resilience, data integrity and operational processes.
  • Ensure integrations meet security, privacy, architecture, data and change-management standards.

Skills & Experience
To be successful, you will bring:

  • Extensive hands-on experience designing, developing and supporting Workday integrations within a large, complex organisation.
  • Strong experience with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Workday Web Services, REST/SOAP APIs and RaaS.
  • Strong understanding of Workday HCM, Payroll and workforce management processes.
  • Experience with ADP Payroll integration projects is highly desirable, particularly integrating Workday with ADP payroll environments.
  • Experience integrating Workday with payroll, workforce management, finance, identity, recruitment and other enterprise platforms.
  • Strong understanding of integration architecture, middleware, secure file transfer, authentication, data mapping, reconciliation, monitoring and error handling.
  • Experience across end-to-end testing, deployment, cutover, release management and production support.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capability.
  • Experience managing vendors and implementation partners.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The Opportunity
This role would suit an experienced Workday Integration Lead, Senior Workday Integration Consultant or Workday Integration Specialist who enjoys balancing project delivery with hands-on operational support.
You will have the opportunity to take ownership of business-critical Workday integrations while contributing to the organisation’s broader integration roadmap, service improvement and technology strategy. The position also has a strong focus on building internal capability through documentation and knowledge transfer.
