Technical Project Manager | Finance & Payment Systems | QLD Government
This is a hands-on delivery role suited to a senior PM who has successfully delivered complex finance, payments, billing or high-volume transactional systems and understands the technical dependencies involved in integrating modern enterprise platforms with critical business processes.
The project is replacing legacy technology with a modern integrated solution and is now entering a critical delivery phase. You will take ownership of forward technical delivery planning, ensuring development teams, vendors and technical specialists are aligned around upcoming priorities, dependencies, milestones and releases.
The role
Working across a multidisciplinary team of internal specialists, contractors and technology vendors, you will:
- Own and maintain the forward technical delivery plan, looking ahead across design, development, integration, testing and deployment.
- Coordinate complex technical dependencies across finance/payment functionality, Microsoft platforms, integrations, data and reporting.
- Ensure development teams have sufficient runway, with requirements, architecture decisions and dependencies addressed ahead of delivery.
- Drive priorities, milestones and critical-path activities across multiple technical workstreams.
- Coordinate vendors and implementation partners delivering components of the solution.
- Manage technical risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies, escalating and resolving blockers early.
- Lead release planning, testing readiness, cutover, go-live and transition into operational support.
- Provide clear delivery reporting to program leadership and governance forums.
- Work closely with business, architecture, development, data and operational teams to keep delivery aligned and on the front foot.
What we’re looking for
You will be an experienced Senior Project Manager / Technical Project Manager who combines strong delivery discipline with enough technical understanding to work credibly with specialist teams.
Of particular interest is experience delivering:
- Finance, payments, billing, ERP or complex transactional systems
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 / Finance & Operations / Dataverse / Power Platform or comparable enterprise platforms
- Complex systems integration and technical dependency management
- Data migration, reporting and enterprise data solutions
- Agile/hybrid software delivery, including increment/release planning
- Large-scale legacy system replacement or modernisation
- Vendor and systems-integrator delivery within complex organisations
Experience with Microsoft Fabric, SAP, BI/reporting or similar technologies would also be highly regarded.
You will need to demonstrate that you can look ahead, anticipate technical dependencies and create sufficient delivery runway, rather than simply report on work already underway.
About you
You are a pragmatic, hands-on delivery leader who is comfortable working with high-performing technical specialists. You communicate clearly, build credibility quickly and can bring structure and direction to a complex delivery environment.
Previous Queensland Government or similarly complex regulated enterprise experience will be highly regarded.
A recognised project management qualification such as PRINCE2 or PMP, together with substantial Senior Project Management experience, is desirable in line with the role requirements.
