Our client is a local government organisation in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs, seeking an experienced Social Media and Content Officer to join their Communications team. This is a hands-on role managing social media, digital content and communications across a range of channels, with a strong focus on community engagement.

  • South eastern suburbs/bayside location, hybrid work from home
  • 6 month initial contract
  • $65 + super hourly rate

The Social Media and Content Officer will manage and develop engaging content across social media, website and other digital channels, while supporting broader communications campaigns and providing communications advice across the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage corporate social media channels, including proactive content and community engagement
  • Develop engaging written, visual and video content across multiple digital platforms
  • Support digital campaigns and broader communications initiatives
  • Monitor social media trends, community issues, engagement and sentiment
  • Develop and implement social media strategies
  • Research, write and edit content for digital and corporate communications
  • Provide communications advice and support to internal stakeholders
  • Assist with website, newsletters, media, photography and other communications activities

Skills and Experience

  • Experience managing social media for a medium to large organisation
  • Solid experience in media, journalism, public relations or similar
  • Strong writing and editing skills across different audiences and channels
  • Experience developing engaging social media content using photography and video
  • Experience developing and delivering social media or communications strategies
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
  • Experience managing complex websites
  • Tertiary qualification in journalism, media, web content or a related discipline
  • Previous local or state government experience will be highly regarded
