Senior Transmission Lines Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Transmission Lines Engineer with a strong civil/structural design background to lead the design and technical assurance of major overhead line projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead concept and detailed design of transmission lines, including projects up to 500kV
  • Develop and review PLS-CADD models, route alignments, structure spotting, clearances and sag-tension
  • Lead and review tower, pole, foundation and structural design interfaces
  • Prepare and approve engineering calculations, reports, specifications and scopes
  • Technically assure designs produced by internal teams, consultants and contractors
  • Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 7000, relevant standards and Safety in Design requirements
  • Provide technical support through construction and project close-out
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and continuous improvement

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline
  • 8+ years’ experience in overhead transmission or sub-transmission line design
  • Strong hands-on PLS-CADD experience
  • Strong knowledge of towers, poles, foundations, structural loading, clearances and sag-tension
  • Experience leading and reviewing complex transmission line design packages
  • Strong knowledge of AS/NZS 7000 and relevant Australian Standards
  • Strong technical leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
  • RPEV registration or eligibility to obtain

Highly Regarded

  • 220kV, 330kV or 500kV transmission project experience
  • PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, SAP2000 or similar experience
  • CPEng, NER and/or RPEQ registration
