The Role
This is a senior Technical Business Analyst opportunity within the Investment Technology domain, suited to someone who combines strong investment industry knowledge with genuinely technical business analysis capability.

Operating between investment stakeholders, architects, engineers and delivery teams, you will own requirements from discovery through to implementation, translating complex investment processes and data requirements into clear technical specifications that development teams can execute against.

The role has a strong focus on investment data, private markets, systems integration and analytics, requiring someone comfortable working with APIs, data structures, data mapping, SQL, cloud platforms and complex investment datasets. You will also bring an understanding of investment concepts such as Security Master, Books of Record, Investment Risk, Portfolio Monitoring, Performance and Attribution

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation, translating investment business needs into detailed functional and technical requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Analyse complex investment data and processes, including data sources, mappings, data quality, fund structures, Books of Record and reporting requirements, using SQL and other analytical techniques where required.
  • Define integration requirements across APIs, system interfaces, middleware and data flows, documenting technical rules, dependencies, authentication, error handling, logging and non-functional requirements.
  • Partner closely with solution architects, developers and engineers to shape technically feasible solutions, producing functional designs, interface specifications, process flows, sequence diagrams and technical backlog items.
  • Support delivery through backlog refinement, development clarification, integration and API testing, data validation, UAT preparation and requirements traceability from initial discovery through to production.
  • Facilitate workshops and collaborate with investment, operations, technology and data stakeholders, translating complex concepts between technical and non-technical audiences and supporting operational readiness and transition into BAU.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Significant experience as a Senior Technical Business Analyst within financial services, investment management, superannuation, asset management or a comparable investment environment.
  • Strong knowledge of investment processes and data, ideally across Private Markets including private equity, unlisted equities, alternatives, credit, infrastructure and/or property, with familiarity across concepts such as Security Master, Investment Book of Record, Accounting Book of Record, Investment Risk, Performance and Attribution.
  • Strong technical analysis capability across APIs, integrations, data mapping and complex datasets, with practical experience working with SQL, data warehousing and modern data/integration technologies.
  • Experience delivering investment data and analytics solutions using technologies such as AWS, Databricks, ETL/data orchestration platforms and APIs, with the ability to engage credibly with architects and engineering teams.
  • Proven ability to own complex requirements end-to-end within Agile delivery environments, including workshop facilitation, user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog refinement, solution validation, testing and stakeholder management.

  • Exposure to Public Markets and Listed Equities.
  • Experience implementing or supporting best-of-breed investment management and investment operations platforms.
  • BABOK-aligned certification such as CBAP, CBDA, AAC or CPOA.
  • Agile certifications such as Scrum or SAFe, or financial industry qualifications such as CFA Institute Investment Foundations.
