Talent is partnering with a large government organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Procurement and Contracts Officer. This is an initial engagement through until end of March 2027 and has the potential for extension.

  • ICT Procurement experience will be highly regarded

You’ll provide specialist procurement advice and lead sourcing and contract management activities across a complex operating environment. Working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers, you’ll deliver procurement outcomes that balance operational needs, governance and value for money.

About the role

  • Lead end-to-end procurement activities, including planning, sourcing strategies, tender documentation, evaluation, negotiation and contract award.

  • Provide strategic advice on procurement processes, policies, delegations and legislative requirements.

  • Manage contracts through their lifecycle, including administration, performance monitoring, variations, extensions and handover.

  • Resolve contractual disputes, supplier performance concerns and invoicing issues.

  • Build effective relationships with business stakeholders and suppliers, including undertaking site visits when required.

  • Prepare briefing notes, performance reports and procurement documentation, maintaining accurate records and registers.

  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, systems and outcomes.

About you

  • Proven experience delivering complex, end-to-end procurement activities within a government or similarly regulated environment.

  • Strong capability across tender preparation, evaluation, supplier negotiations and contract award.

  • Experience managing contract performance, variations, extensions and supplier issues.

  • Sound understanding of procurement governance, probity and risk management, with the ability to interpret and apply relevant policies and legislation.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the confidence to provide clear, practical procurement advice.

  • Well-developed written communication skills, including preparing reports, briefing notes and procurement documentation.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing requirements and take ownership of delivery.

  • ICT procurement experience will be highly regarded, as will qualifications in business or procurement and CIPS or equivalent certification. There are no mandatory qualification requirements.
