Senior Manager // Fin Crime Oversight

A leading Australian financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to provide independent second-line oversight and challenge across its Financial Crime function.

The role will focus on ensuring financial crime risks are effectively identified, assessed and managed in line with risk appetite and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide independent oversight and challenge across AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud, scams, anti-bribery and corruption, and tax transparency.
  • Conduct thematic reviews, deep dives and targeted financial crime risk assessments.
  • Assess the design and effectiveness of financial crime controls.
  • Challenge first-line risk assessments, control environments and remediation plans.
  • Identify and escalate material risks, control weaknesses and compliance issues.
  • Oversee financial crime regulatory change, including Australia’s AML/CTF reforms.
  • Provide financial crime advice across new products, projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare clear reporting and recommendations for senior management and governance committees.
  • Partner with senior business and risk stakeholders to deliver practical, risk-based outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years’ experience across financial crime, compliance or risk within banking or financial services.
  • Strong second-line financial crime oversight and independent challenge experience.
  • Sound knowledge of AML/CTF, sanctions and financial crime risk frameworks.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, thematic reviews and control-effectiveness assessments.
  • Current knowledge of Australian AML/CTF reforms.
  • Strong senior stakeholder management and influencing capability.
  • Excellent written communication, with experience preparing executive and governance reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
