Senior Azure Cloud Platform Engineer – DevSecOps

The opportunity

We are looking for a senior, self-sufficient Azure Cloud Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer or DevSecOps specialist to join a leading enterprise organisation in Auckland.

This is an assessment, uplift and implementation role-not a position focused on building a new DevOps environment from scratch. The organisation already has established CI/CD pipelines, application-security tools, code-quality tooling and engineering processes.

You will assess what is working, identify gaps and lead practical improvements across how software is developed, secured, tested and released.

The role combines approximately 50% technical DevSecOps capability with 50% technical leadership, stakeholder engagement and influence. You will work closely with software engineers, testers, delivery teams, platform teams and senior stakeholders to embed stronger engineering practices across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess existing CI/CD pipelines, development processes, security controls and release practices

  • Identify gaps, risks and opportunities across the software-development lifecycle

  • Improve Azure DevOps pipelines and associated engineering practices

  • Embed application-security and code-quality controls into CI/CD workflows

  • Strengthen source-control, testing, release-governance and deployment standards

  • Work with engineering teams to improve secure-development practices

  • Develop practical recommendations and support their implementation

  • Influence technical and non-technical stakeholders to adopt improved ways of working

  • Provide technical guidance, coaching and leadership across multiple teams

  • Support the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices where appropriate

What you will bring

  • Senior-level experience in DevSecOps, cloud platform engineering, SRE or software engineering

  • Strong practical knowledge of CI/CD, source control, testing and release management

  • Experience with Azure DevOps and Azure Cloud

  • Knowledge of secure-SDLC and application-security practices

  • Experience embedding security and quality controls into delivery pipelines

  • Exposure to SonarQube or similar code-quality tooling

  • Experience with SAST, SCA or application-security tools such as Mend, Fortify, Snyk, Checkmarx or equivalent

  • The ability to assess an existing environment and turn findings into practical improvements

  • Strong stakeholder-management, communication and influencing skills

  • Experience coaching engineers and driving adoption across delivery teams

  • Exposure to GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted engineering tools would be advantageous

Contract details

  • Initial six-month contract with potential for extension

  • Auckland CBD location

  • Minimum three days per week in the office

  • 37.5 hours per week
