Senior ADABAS Natural Developer

Location: Sydney
Contract: 3 December 2026 – 30 June 2027
Hours: 40 hours per week
Work rights: Full Australian working rights required

An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior ADABAS Natural Developer to join a major operational transformation program within a NSW Government agency.

You will contribute to the design, development, maintenance and support of critical applications, working closely with architects, senior developers, functional specialists and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop technical specifications, solution designs and system designs.

  • Build robust and maintainable applications using ADABAS and NATURAL.

  • Develop NATURAL programs across online and batch environments.

  • Perform detailed design and peer code reviews.

  • Troubleshoot application issues, resolve faults and conduct technical impact assessments.

  • Ensure solutions comply with technology, architecture and security standards.

  • Gather and analyse business and technical requirements.

  • Document current business processes and operational support procedures.

  • Collaborate with technical teams and end users to ensure solutions meet business needs.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement across the development team.

Essential Experience

  • At least three years’ experience developing solution designs, technical specifications and system designs using ADABAS.

  • Strong hands-on NATURAL programming experience across online and batch processing.

  • Experience manipulating ADABAS databases using NATURAL.

  • Ability to conduct comprehensive design and code reviews for new and modified modules.

  • Experience with JCL, TSO and partitioned datasets.

  • Understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall or Rational Unified Process.

Desirable Technical Skills

  • Experience developing web-based applications.

  • Knowledge of AJAX, HTML, XHTML, XML and CSS.

  • Exposure to JSP and Java.
