About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Risk & Compliance Specialist to support the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of risk management and compliance frameworks.

The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating organisational risks while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess, and monitor operational, regulatory, and compliance risks across business functions.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain risk management frameworks, policies, procedures, and controls.

  • Conduct risk assessments, compliance reviews, and control effectiveness testing.

  • Monitor changes in legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

  • Maintain risk registers, compliance documentation, and reporting frameworks.

  • Investigate compliance incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Prepare risk and compliance reports, dashboards, and recommendations for senior stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to implement risk mitigation strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance assessments.

  • Promote a strong risk-aware culture through stakeholder engagement, guidance, and training.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience in risk management, regulatory compliance, governance, or a related discipline.

  • Strong understanding of risk management principles, compliance frameworks, and internal controls.

  • Experience conducting risk assessments, compliance monitoring, and control testing.

  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business processes.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting capabilities.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills.

  • Experience preparing risk reports, maintaining risk registers, and developing compliance documentation.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with minimal supervision.

Highly Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with ISO 31000, AS/NZS risk management standards, or other recognised governance frameworks.

  • Experience working in highly regulated environments, including government, financial services, or large corporate organisations.

  • Knowledge of Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) systems and reporting tools.

  • Professional certifications in risk management, compliance, auditing, or governance.
