Already a recruiter looking for your next team? Or never considered recruitment before?

Talent Canberra is looking for a Recruitment Consultant to join our established team, and we’re open-minded about what your background looks like.

You’ll work across a broad range of Federal Government recruitment, helping connect great people with opportunities spanning technology, digital, corporate and specialist professional roles.

You might already know recruitment inside out, or you might be looking for a completely new career. Experience in sales, customer service or another people-focused environment can be helpful, but what matters most to us is how you work and your potential to develop.

Recruitment is ultimately a people business. You’ll get to know what candidates are looking for, help them navigate opportunities and build trusted relationships that can continue well beyond a single placement.

What you’ll be doing
Working alongside our experienced Account Managers and Recruitment Consultants, you’ll take ownership of candidate-side recruitment delivery from sourcing and initial conversations through to interview, placement and ongoing support.

Federal Government recruitment can take you into some pretty specialised territory. We don’t expect you to know everything – but we do expect you to be curious, ask good questions and be willing to learn.

You’ll:

  • Work with Account Managers to understand and qualify new opportunities
  • Source, attract and engage candidates across a range of specialist roles
  • Get to know candidates – their experience, motivations, goals and what matters to them
  • Screen and assess candidates against client requirements
  • Write job ads and prepare quality candidate submissions
  • Support candidates throughout interviews, onboarding and placement
  • Build candidate networks and your knowledge of the Canberra market
  • Keep recruitment activity accurate and up to date in our systems
  • Manage competing priorities and communicate when you need clarification or support
  • Share knowledge, candidates and market insights and contribute to the wider team’s success

Who are we looking for?
Previous recruitment or Federal Government experience would be great, but neither is essential.
Great recruiters come from all kinds of backgrounds. More important to us is whether you:

  • Enjoy talking to people and delivering great service
  • Are naturally curious and comfortable asking questions
  • Build genuine relationships and communicate well
  • Take ownership and follow through on commitments
  • Can organise yourself when several things need your attention
  • Are open to feedback and keen to keep developing
  • Pay attention to detail and take pride in doing things properly
  • Enjoy being part of a team and are willing to jump in and help
  • Are comfortable learning new systems and unfamiliar subject matter

So, why join Talent Canberra?
We’re serious about delivering great results, but we know there’s more to success than hitting a number. You’ll have clear targets and expectations, but we’ll also value your contribution to the team, the relationships you build and the capability you develop along the way.

We’re a close-knit team that genuinely cares about the people we work with. If you’re stuck, you won’t be left to figure it out alone. We work hard, celebrate the wins and find plenty of excuses to get together socially – birthdays and milestones included.

There’s also no single career path you have to follow. You’ll have ongoing training and mentoring, and we’ll work with you to understand your strengths, what you want to develop and what success looks like for you.

You’ll also enjoy:

  • Hybrid working – WFH Tuesday and Wednesday, with the team together in the office Monday, Thursday and Friday
  • Competitive salary and bonus structure
  • Ongoing training, coaching and mentoring
  • Annual Talentfest conference for all employees
  • Regular team and social events
  • Opportunities for professional and career development
