Program Support Officer (Non-ICT) | Canberra | 12 Months + Extension

About the Client

Our client is a Federal Government Department delivering Australian Government priorities and services.
The role sits within a program environment where accurate financial management, contract administration, reporting and governance are important to the effective delivery of program outcomes.

About the Role

We are seeking a Program Support Officer at the APS5/APS6 equivalent level for an initial 12-month labour hire engagement, with a further 12-month extension option.
The role will provide day-to-day program support across financial management, contract administration, SAP processing, reporting and governance. You will work closely with finance, program and business stakeholders to maintain accurate records, monitor expenditure and contracts, support reporting cycles and identify emerging risks or issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day program support using program and project management tools.
  • Monitor budgets, expenditure, commitments and forecasts.
  • Prepare financial reports, reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Support contract establishment, variations, extensions and close-out activities.
  • Monitor contractor deliverables, milestones, payments and associated records.
  • Process and maintain purchase requisitions, purchase orders, invoices and goods receipts in SAP.
  • Prepare program reports, dashboards, briefs and governance papers.
  • Maintain financial, contract, risk and action registers and support audit, assurance and compliance activities.

Skills and Experience

You will ideally bring:

  • Experience or exposure to program and project support environments.
  • Experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
  • Experience or exposure to contract administration or contract management.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, compliance and record management.

Experience using SAP or a similar enterprise financial and contract management system is desirable.

Qualifications

No specific mandatory qualification is identified in the RFQ.
Relevant experience across program support, finance, contracts, procurement or project administration will be considered.

Eligibility / Other Requirements

  • Security clearance: Current NV1 clearance is required.
  • Australian Citizenship: Candidates must be able to satisfy relevant Australian Government security and pre-engagement requirements.
  • Relevant pre-employment checks will apply.
  • The role is based in Canberra, ACT.
  • Limited work from home or flexible work arrangements are available.
  • Overseas travel may be required.
  • Standard hours are 37.5 hours per week.

Why This Role May Appeal

This role offers broad exposure across the operational side of government program delivery rather than focusing on one narrow function.
It may suit someone who has worked across program support, finance, procurement, contract administration or project coordination and wants a position that combines these capabilities.
There is also a strong governance component, with exposure to financial reporting, contracts, SAP, risk registers, audit and program reporting.
