Outfitting Engineer

Take on a specialist engineering role focused on integrating complex equipment into maritime platforms, ensuring solutions are safe, supportable and fit for operation in demanding naval environments.

You’ll work across outfitting design, mechanical integration, stowage, mounting, securing and platform interfaces, partnering with Naval Architects, engineers and stakeholders to solve complex integration challenges from design through to verification and trials.

The Role

As an Outfitting Engineer, you’ll help shape how equipment is physically integrated into maritime platforms while ensuring safety, seaworthiness, certification and operational requirements are met.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and assessing outfitting and mechanical integration solutions for equipment, including foundations, mounts, securing and stowage
• Coordinating structural, mechanical and auxiliary interfaces such as tie-downs, cradles, power connections and handling equipment
• Assessing space, weight, centre of gravity, access and environmental constraints
• Supporting design reviews, engineering changes, installation and verification activities
• Participating in testing, trials and acceptance, while identifying and managing technical integration risks

About You

We’re particularly interested in:

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related discipline
• Experience in maritime, shipbuilding, sustainment or another complex engineering environment
• Experience across outfitting, mechanical integration, ship design or platform modification
• Strong understanding of equipment mounting, securing, stowage, structural interfaces and space/weight considerations
• Experience supporting design reviews, certification, verification, testing or trials
• Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams
• A current NV1 security clearance
• Experience integrating land-based equipment or mission systems into maritime platforms, along with knowledge of seaworthiness, configuration management and human factors, would be highly regarded.
