Mechanical Site / Construction Coordinators

Three positions available | 8-week contract | $100 per hour including super | Illawarra region

An ASX-listed manufacturer is seeking three Mechanical Site / Construction Coordinators to support a major capital works project within a complex industrial environment.

These short-term contracts will suit practical, safety-focused professionals who can coordinate contractors, monitor site activities and help keep construction works progressing safely and to schedule. Applications are welcomed from both experienced coordinators and more junior candidates with relevant site-based mechanical or construction experience.

The opportunity

You will support the Construction Manager and broader project team with the safe coordination and delivery of mechanical construction activities. The role will involve working closely with contractors, project personnel, operations teams and external service providers.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate mechanical construction and installation activities across the project site

  • Manage contractors, subcontractors and third-party service providers

  • Monitor site progress against construction schedules and agreed deliverables

  • Maintain a strong focus on site safety, environmental compliance and risk management

  • Review and monitor SWMS, JSEAs, work permits and contractor work packs

  • Participate in toolbox meetings, safety inspections and site audits

  • Coordinate site access, work areas, isolations and interactions between contractors

  • Identify and escalate construction issues, risks and delays

  • Validate labour, materials and equipment delivered to the project

  • Maintain accurate construction diaries, progress records and supporting documentation

  • Assist with quality assurance, testing, commissioning and handover activities

  • Work closely with project, engineering and operational stakeholders

Skills and experience

  • Experience coordinating mechanical site works, construction projects or maintenance activities

  • Exposure to manufacturing, heavy industry, infrastructure, engineering or other complex construction environments

  • Strong contractor coordination and site stakeholder management skills

  • Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements

  • Ability to read and work from construction plans, schedules and technical documentation

  • Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills

  • Construction White Card

  • Relevant mechanical trade qualification, associate diploma or engineering qualification is highly regarded

  • Experience with confined spaces, working at heights, cranes, rigging or high-risk work is advantageous

  • Previous experience supporting large capital projects or major shutdowns is desirable but not essential
