Our client is a large values-focused Federal Government Agency seeking an experienced Lead Data Analyst (EL1 level) to lead complex technical analysis and support delivery of important data assets and capabilities within a strategic change program.

This role will suit a senior data analyst with strong programming capability across SQL, SAS, R and/or Python, experience working in enterprise data warehouse environments, and the ability to guide other analysts while delivering high-quality data outcomes.

ROLE DETAILS:
Location: Melbourne or Geelong VIC
Contract: 12 months + 12-month extension option
Working arrangement: Hybrid, 2/3 split
Security: Must be able to obtain Baseline
Eligibility: Australian Citizen only
Closes: Wednesday 2nd September

ABOUT THE ROLE:
You’ll work in a small multi-disciplinary team designing, building, deploying and maintaining data assets and products in a cloud data platform. The role involves data wrangling, profiling, quality assessment, coding transformations, prototyping new data products, validation testing and communicating complex technical decisions to varied audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and guide a small group of Data Analysts within a strategic change program.
  • Design, build, deploy and maintain data assets and data products in a cloud data platform.
  • Present complex technical options, decisions and results to audiences with varied technical and data literacy.
  • Undertake data wrangling, profiling and quality assessment of new or changed data sources and integrations.
  • Translate business rules and requirements into coded transformations.
  • Design and prototype new data attributes and data products.
  • Conduct data validation testing and support defect/anomaly remediation.
  • Maintain codebase and documentation standards, sharing knowledge across analyst teams.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Extensive data analysis experience with the ability to prototype high-quality solutions from complex, disparate datasets.
  • Advanced programming expertise – 8+ years across SQL, SAS, R and/or Python.
  • Ability to work independently with clear purpose and deliver high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative approach with shared accountability for team outcomes.
  • Experience working within an industrialised Enterprise Data Warehouse environment.
  • Understanding of data pipelines, data modelling and reporting platform architectures.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including translating business discussions into data flows and process documentation.

Desirable: Snowflake or other cloud data platforms, SAS Viya, Fabric Power BI, and willingness to learn new analytics platforms/tools.
