Commercial Officers – Defence

Location: Newcastle NSW
Security Clearance: Active NV1 mandatory
Positions Available: 3

We are seeking three experienced Commercial Officers to support major Defence aviation acquisition and sustainment programs based in Newcastle, NSW.

These opportunities involve procurement, contract management, commercial governance and stakeholder engagement within complex Defence environments.

Available Positions

1. L2 Commercial Officer

  • Support Defence procurement, contract negotiations and commercial governance.
  • Provide advice on contractual risks, compliance and CASG procurement policies.
  • Assist with contract development, management and stakeholder engagement.

2. L3 Commercial Officer

  • Support procurement planning, tendering, contract formation and administration.
  • Prepare commercial documentation, procurement strategies and submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with Commonwealth procurement policies and probity requirements.

3. L3 Senior Commercial Officer

  • Provide specialist advice on complex contract negotiations and commercial risks.
  • Oversee commercial governance, contractual compliance and procurement activities.
  • Engage senior Defence stakeholders and mentor commercial team members.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in Defence commercial operations, procurement or contract management.
  • Understanding of Commonwealth procurement frameworks, CASG policies and commercial governance.
  • Experience with tendering, contract development, negotiations or commercial risk management.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and documentation skills.
  • Active NV1 security clearance (mandatory).

Highly Regarded

  • Previous experience within Defence CASG or a System Program Office (SPO).
  • Knowledge of Contract Negotiation Directives, Smart Buyer documentation and Defence procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with Defence systems such as MyProcurement, MiFi or ERP.
