International Online Safety Project Officer
$70 – $85 per hour + super | 3 days per week | Melbourne-based with international travel | 3 x 12-month contract | 22.5 hours per week
This is a rare opportunity to combine international project work with a genuinely meaningful purpose. Working across Southeast Asia and the Pacific, you will help deliver initiatives designed to improve online safety and strengthen responses to technology-facilitated violence against women and children.
Based out of a Melbourne home office for three days per week, the role will involve international engagement and some overseas travel throughout the region. You will work closely with governments, industry representatives, international organisations and diverse communities to help create safer and more responsible digital environments.
The role
As the International Project Officer, you will support the delivery of a major regional online-safety program focused on regulatory cooperation, knowledge sharing, community education and capacity building.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting research and developing a baseline study of the online-safety landscape across Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
- Developing monitoring, evaluation and learning plans, tools and reporting processes.
- Tracking project activities, deliverables, risks and changes.
- Coordinating international consultations, workshops and capacity-building activities.
- Preparing agendas, briefing materials, talking points and progress reports.
- Co-designing accessible and culturally appropriate online-safety resources with international stakeholders.
- Building productive relationships with government agencies, regulators, industry groups and international organisations.
- Supporting initiatives that prevent and respond to online harms, particularly technology-facilitated violence against women and children.
About you
You will bring:
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning.
- Well-developed research and analytical capability, including the ability to turn complex information into practical recommendations.
- Experience working with diverse communities to co-design resources, programs or workshops.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the cultural awareness required to work effectively across the Asia-Pacific region.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in international development, international relations, social sciences or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience in online safety, international development, government environments or addressing technology-facilitated violence against women and children will be highly regarded.
The opportunity
- Rate: $70 – $85 per hour + super
- Commitment: Three days per week
- Contract: Initial 12-month contract with two additional 12-month extension options
