HR Senior Adviser - Workplace Relations

An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior HR Adviser to join a Commonwealth Government organisation, providing specialist workplace relations advice across a broad range of employment matters.

Working closely with managers and employees, you will interpret and apply Commonwealth employment legislation, policies and frameworks to deliver practical and consistent workplace outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide expert workplace relations advice to managers and employees.
  • Interpret and apply Commonwealth employment legislation, industrial instruments, policies and procedures.
  • Support the development and review of employment policies, guidance materials and workplace practices.
  • Research and analyse complex workplace relations matters and provide clear recommendations to decision-makers.
  • Contribute to workplace relations projects and broader people initiatives.
  • Build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Support organisational change and promote a positive workplace culture, including employee wellbeing and psychosocial safety.

About you

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated workplace relations experience, ideally within the Commonwealth public sector.
  • A strong understanding of public sector employment legislation, frameworks and policy.
  • The ability to interpret industrial instruments and provide clear, practical advice.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing capability.
  • Sound judgement, discretion and the ability to manage sensitive employment matters.
  • The ability to work independently under limited direction and contribute effectively within a team.

Qualifications in human resources, industrial relations, employment law or business management will be highly regarded.
