Health & Safety Advisor - Decommissioning
As an experienced Health & Safety Adviser you will be required to provide specialist HSE leadership, assurance and practical advisory support across complex decommissioning activities. Your role will be to support safe planning, readiness, execution and close-out across offshore facilities, marine and vessel operations, subsea infrastructure, onshore deconstruction, logistics and waste management. Working closely with project leadership, contractors and functional teams you will act as a Health & Safety Subject Matter Expert and influence safe outcomes through assurance, coaching and constructive challenge.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Health & Safety guidance and practical support across the full decommissioning project lifecycle.
- Develop and support risk-based assurance plans including contractor assurance, critical control verification and field observations.
- Facilitate and contribute to Safety in Design reviews, HAZID and HIRA activities, ALARP assessments, SIMOPS reviews and task risk assessments.
- Advise on hazards associated with marine operations, subsea work, isolation, lifting, hazardous materials, contamination, waste handling and deconstruction.
- Apply Process Safety Management, Human Factors, occupational health and psychosocial safety principles.
- Support event reporting, classification, investigation and organisational learning.
- Lead or support incident investigations when assigned including mobilisation to operational locations where required.
- Support emergency preparedness, mobilisation readiness and operational readiness reviews.
- Analyse event, assurance and leading-indicator data to identify trends and targeted improvement opportunities.
- Coach leaders and frontline personnel through effective Field Leadership conversations.
- Conduct site engagements and follow up assurance findings and corrective actions.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Health & Safety Adviser within the energy industry or a similar high-hazard or heavy industry environment.
- Tertiary education in occupational health and safety, engineering, science or a related discipline is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading incident investigations.
- Strong experience in operational risk, Health & Safety assurance and risk facilitation.
- Previous decommissioning experience is highly desirable.
- Formal investigation, auditing and risk-facilitation training is advantageous.
- Trade, operational, offshore or project delivery experience is advantageous.
Working Conditions
- Perth CBD office location offering great WFH flexibility once established
- Standard Monday to Friday working hours in state-of-the-art high-rise facilities
- 12-month contract with work across office, offshore, vessel, yard and contractor environments.
- Short notice travel to worksites may be required to support assurance activities, operational events and emerging risks.
