Group Manager - Corporate Risk Advisory & Controls
Talent International, a leading Australian recruitment firm, have been engaged by our long standing client, a leading Australian entertainment organisation. We are seeking an experienced Group Manager, Corporate Risk Advisory & Controls to lead key Line 1 risk advisory and controls activities across a complex, highly regulated organisation.
This is a senior, hands on risk leadership opportunity, partnering closely with executive and corporate stakeholders to strengthen risk management, governance and control effectiveness. The role will suit someone who can operate strategically at a senior level, while remaining comfortable getting into the detail and driving outcomes. The position reports into the Head of Risk Advisory, Governance & Assurance and has responsibility for leading the Corporate Risk Advisory and Controls function.

Salary: $220,000
Role Details:
- Lead the delivery and ongoing improvement of Line 1 corporate risk advisory and controls activities across the organisation.
- Act as a trusted risk advisor to senior business leaders, providing strategic advice and challenge across operational, regulatory, strategic and technology risks.
- Lead the controls testing program, assessing control design and operating effectiveness, residual risk exposure and alignment with relevant risk frameworks and policies.
- Provide independent risk oversight across strategic and business change initiatives, ensuring risks, controls and regulatory obligations are appropriately managed throughout the change lifecycle.
- Partner with senior corporate stakeholders to strengthen risk management capability, governance, risk culture and control effectiveness.
- Oversee risk assessments, remediation activities and the ongoing management of material and emerging risks.
- Prepare and present risk and compliance reporting to senior management, risk committees and, where appropriate, the Board.
- Lead and develop a small team of two, while remaining hands on in the delivery of key risk initiatives.
Required Skills and Experiences:
- 10+ years’ experience across risk management, compliance, governance, controls or a related strategic risk discipline within a complex organisation.
- Strong Line 1 risk advisory and controls experience, with the ability to identify, assess and manage complex business risks.
- Consulting or Big Four experience will be highly regarded, particularly candidates operating at Senior Manager or junior Director level.
- Strong understanding of governance, controls, risk frameworks and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with and influencing senior executives and business leaders.
- Experience developing and improving policies, frameworks, procedures and control environments.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capability, with the ability to translate complex risk issues into practical business recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing senior executive and Board level reporting.
- A pragmatic and hands on approach, someone who can think strategically while also rolling up their sleeves and working through the detail.
