Finance Officer – Multiple APS5 & APS6 Opportunities

Our client is a large values-focused Federal Government Agency seeking experienced Finance Officers across APS5 and APS6 levels to support financial reporting, accounts processing, asset/lease management, budget monitoring, reconciliations and compliance activities.

These roles sit within a finance function responsible for financial management, reporting, systems, analysis, advice and compliance.

These roles will suit finance professionals with strong attention to detail, stakeholder engagement skills and experience working across government, shared services or large corporate finance environments.

ROLE DETAILS:

Locations: Richmond and Geelong VIC (see below)
Contract: ASAP start to 31 December 2026, with extension likely
Eligibility: Australian Citizenship required
Rates:
APS5: $55.24 per hour + super
APS6: $60.26 per hour + super

ABOUT THE ROLES:

There are multiple Finance Officer opportunities available, with a mix of general finance, accounts/payments, asset management and higher-level financial analysis responsibilities.

The roles have strong crossover across financial administration, reporting, stakeholder support, compliance, reconciliations and systems work. The key difference is the level and focus of each stream.

ROLE STREAMS:

APS5 Finance Officer – Financial Governance / Compliance (Geelong)
This role is more focused on accounts payable, vendor/payment processing, invoice resolution and finance service desk support. You may be involved in bulk vendor uploads, payment uploads, outstanding invoice reporting, duplicate invoice checks, eInvoice issues, goods receipt queries and direct payment requests.

APS5 Finance Officer – Assets / Leasing (Richmond)
This role is more focused on asset, fleet and property lease management. You may work across SAP REFX, fleet lease contracts, lease reconciliations, monthly journals, rent/property allocations, lease working papers, variance investigations, AASB16 lease compliance and financial statement/audit support.

APS6 Finance Officer – General Finance / Reporting (Richmond)
This role is more senior and analytical, with a stronger focus on financial analysis, budget/forecast monitoring, quality assurance, cost estimates, written reports, business cases, stakeholder correspondence and supporting financial administration across cost centres and projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Processing and quality-checking finance transactions, vendor uploads, payments, invoices and related documentation.
  • Monitoring and resolving finance queries, outstanding invoices, eInvoice issues and unmatched goods receipts.
  • Preparing reports, registers, reconciliations, journals, working papers and financial documentation.
  • Supporting asset, fleet and property lease management, including lease records, reconciliations and SAP REFX updates.
  • Assisting with budget monitoring, forecasting, accruals and variance analysis across cost centres or projects.
  • Undertaking quality assurance, error reporting, audit support and compliance checks.
  • Preparing written material such as business cases, financial reports, corporate documentation and stakeholder correspondence.
  • Liaising with internal business areas, suppliers, shared services providers and other stakeholders to resolve finance matters.
  • Supporting compliance with government finance, procurement, goods receipting and accounting requirements.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Experience in finance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit card management, financial administration or related finance roles.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to process, reconcile and quality-check financial information accurately.
  • Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems and spreadsheets.
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Sound understanding of government procurement, goods receipting or shared services finance processes.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and resolve moderately complex finance issues.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports, documentation and correspondence.
  • For APS6 roles, experience with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accruals, cost estimates and quality assurance will be highly regarded.
  • SAP experience is desirable. SAP REFX leasing module experience will be highly regarded for asset/leasing-focused roles.
