Talent International is seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner for an initial 6-month contract opportunity within a large and complex WA State Government environment.
Based in the Perth CBD, this position will provide specialist financial analysis, advice and business partnering support across designated business areas.
Working closely with key stakeholders, you will provide financial insight and guidance to support effective decision-making, improve financial performance and contribute to organisational budgeting, forecasting and planning.
The role will also play an important part in the organisation’s annual budget cycle, funding submissions and broader WA State Government budget processes.
In this role, you will:
- Build strong and collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
- Partner with business areas to provide tailored financial management advice and analysis.
- Provide specialist advice regarding financial strategies and the effective use of financial resources.
- Contribute to organisational budget development and the annual financial planning cycle.
- Support internal budgeting and resource allocation processes.
- Analyse expenditure, financial performance and budget variances, identifying emerging issues and recommending appropriate actions.
- Prepare complex financial analysis, financial models and cost-benefit assessments.
- Undertake longer-term financial planning and forecasting activities.
- Support the development and implementation of financial policies, guidelines and business plans.
- Prepare submissions for the Mid-Year Review and annual WA State Government budget process.
- Assist with annual budget papers and budget estimate documentation.
- Support the preparation of business cases, funding submissions and financial recommendations.
To be successful, you will ideally bring:
- Strong financial management, budgeting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience providing financial advice within a large or complex organisation.
- Experience developing and implementing financial management strategies and processes.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and interpersonal capability.
- The ability to build effective working relationships and operate as a trusted finance business partner.
- Experience analysing financial performance, identifying trends and providing recommendations to management.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and managing internal and external budgets.
- Sound knowledge of financial governance, compliance and financial management frameworks.
- Strong written communication skills, including the preparation of reports, submissions and business cases.
Candidates with experience in the following areas will be particularly well regarded:
- SIMS within a WA State Government financial environment.
- WA State Government budget processes, including annual budget submissions and/or Mid-Year Review activities.
- Finance Business Partnering within WA State Government or a comparable public sector environment.
- Preparation of budget papers, funding submissions and business cases.
- Public sector financial management frameworks, including relevant legislation and Treasurer’s Instructions.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, commerce or a related discipline.
- Membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ or another recognised professional accounting body.
