Exchange Engineer

Location: Canberra
Clearance: NV2 Security Clearance – mandatory
Environment: Defence project

We are seeking an experienced Exchange Engineer to support the design, integration and assurance of secure messaging and infrastructure applications within a complex Defence environment.

The role will focus on Microsoft Exchange and messaging technologies, while also supporting broader infrastructure applications including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, ADFS, PKI, Microsoft Office, SQL, Veeam, SFTP and file services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess application architectures, security requirements and integration solutions.
  • Lead the design and development of application and system requirements.
  • Support Microsoft Exchange and related messaging technologies.
  • Coordinate subsystem design and integration across broader ICT environments.
  • Identify and resolve technical and operational issues.
  • Work with vendors to assess products and support implementation.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into integrated technology solutions.
  • Produce technical documentation including:
    • High Level Designs
    • System configurations
    • Build guides
    • Scripts and playbooks
    • Standard Operating Procedures
    • Quality Assurance documentation
  • Provide technical assurance and support engineering governance activities.

Essential Requirements

  • Active NV2 Security Clearance
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in ICT application integration, system design or a related field
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Exchange
  • Strong Microsoft infrastructure experience across technologies such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, ADFS and PKI
  • Experience working within complex, secure or Defence ICT environments
  • Strong systems integration and troubleshooting capability
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation and design artefacts

Desirable

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Experience providing expert technical advice and leading complex technical activities
  • Strong stakeholder and vendor engagement skills
  • Experience assessing new technologies, risks and operational improvements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
