Are you a highly skilled actuary with a passion for leadership and tackling complex problems? We are seeking a motivated EL1 Lead Actuary to lead critical actuarial insights and monitoring activities that support our organization’s strategic objectives. Key duties and responsibilities

  • Providing statistical and actuarial advice.
  • Providing oversight and management of reporting, analysis and data management activities as required, including regular performance monitoring.
  • Designing actuarial, statistical and mathematical models to undertake analytical work that respond to business issues, including actuarial monitoring and analyses, data tabulations, scheme projects and cost benefit analyses.
  • Undertaking ad hoc modelling requests and report production.
  • Presenting the outcomes of work undertaken, tailored to context via verbal and written communication.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven experience in providing statistical and actuarial advice with a strong understanding of modeling, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to develop and oversee advanced actuarial, statistical, and mathematical models addressing complex business issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex results to different audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing reporting, analysis, and data management activities, including performance monitoring.
  • Strong project management skills, with a history of prioritizing tasks and leveraging resources to meet deadlines.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with ad hoc modeling requests and report generation.
  • Ability to influence, persuade, and build relationships with stakeholders to support strategic priorities.
  • Familiarity with government programs or large-scale operational frameworks.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Advanced degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields.
  • Significant actuarial or analytical experience, preferably within a government or large organization.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and projects involving complex data and strategic insights.

Other Requirements:

  • Australian citizenship and valid evidence of citizenship.
