The Opportunity

Talent International is seeking an experienced Technical Data Lead / Data Engineering Lead to join a leading Australian enterprise on an exciting 6-month contract based in Brisbane.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a significant Enterprise Data Platform transformation, consolidating multiple operational data sources into a centralised platform to improve data quality, accessibility, real-time insights and business decision-making.

You’ll work closely with data architects, engineers and senior stakeholders, providing technical direction and ensuring complex data initiatives translate into practical, scalable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical delivery across enterprise data integration, migration and platform modernisation initiatives.
  • Guide data engineering and integration teams, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles.
  • Oversee the consolidation of disparate data sources into a centralised Enterprise Data Platform.
  • Drive improvements in data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data quality and governance.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
  • Manage technical dependencies, delivery risks and competing priorities.
  • Support enhanced reporting, analytics and real-time data capabilities.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Technical Data Lead, Data Engineering Lead, Data Lead or Technical Lead within a large enterprise.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture, data integration and modern data platforms.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka, event streaming and enterprise integration technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT, data pipelines, data modelling and data quality management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and delivering complex data initiatives.
  • Experience integrating multiple enterprise systems and operational data sources.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to bridge technical architecture and business delivery.

Highly Regarded

  • Experience with AWS and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Large-scale data migration, data warehouse modernisation or Enterprise Data Platform delivery.
  • Experience consolidating legacy or fragmented data environments.
  • Background in aviation, transport, logistics or other complex operational environments.
  • Exposure to real-time data processing, business intelligence and operational analytics.
