  • Key expertise: Enterprise cyber security architecture, security monitoring, Microsoft Defender, endpoint protection and Azure security.

We are currenlty seeking an experienced Cyber Security Architect to strengthen the platforms and controls that protect a major Federal Government organisation. You’ll combine strategic architecture leadership with practical technical investigation, turning security designs into reliable solutions that support day-to-day operations.


Your duties will include:

  • Lead the design and improvement of security monitoring, endpoint, identity, cloud and network security capabilities.
  • Develop security logging and integration designs that support threat detection, incident investigation and audit requirements.
  • Guide the deployment and configuration of Microsoft Defender and related security tools across endpoints, servers and identity services.
  • Investigate gaps in security coverage, configuration and system integration, and recommend practical improvements.
  • Produce architecture designs, integration diagrams, technical standards and implementation roadmaps.
  • Review vendor proposals and delivered solutions to confirm they meet requirements and work within the existing environment.
  • Work with engineering, operations and project teams to apply government security requirements and deliver agreed improvements.


Skills and Experience we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing cyber security solutions across complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong security monitoring and SIEM architecture experience, including log collection, data flows and integration with security operations.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Defender for Identity, including deployment, configuration and monitoring coverage.
  • Experience with endpoint and server hardening, attack surface reduction and vulnerability management.
  • Ability to produce clear architecture documentation and verify that implemented solutions align with approved designs.
  • Working knowledge of the Australian Government Information Security Manual, Protective Security Policy Framework, Essential Eight and ASD guidance.
  • Strong communication and technical leadership skills, with the ability to resolve dependencies across teams. Experience with Rapid7, Windows Event Collection, Microsoft Purview and Azure or hybrid cloud security will be highly regarded.
