We are seeking an experienced Cloud Solutions Architect to support the design and implementation of secure, scalable cloud solutions across AWS and/or Azure environments.

Based South of the River and conveniently located close to a major train/bus station hub, this initial 6-month contract opportunity will see you working within an enterprise cloud enablement team, translating technical requirements into practical cloud architecture and engineering solutions.

The role combines hands-on engineering, solution design and cloud governance with a strong focus on technical documentation, mentoring and building internal capability.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Design and implement secure, scalable AWS and/or Azure cloud architectures covering compute, networking, storage, identity and security services.
  • Develop detailed solution architectures, reference designs and technical documentation to support implementation teams.
  • Configure and deploy cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK.
  • Collaborate with platform engineers, security teams and application owners to ensure cloud solutions align with business requirements and enterprise standards.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues relating to cloud deployment, performance and integration.
  • Develop technical documentation, operational runbooks and implementation guides to support ongoing cloud operations.
  • Provide hands-on technical training, mentoring and knowledge transfer to internal engineering teams.
  • Contribute to cloud architecture governance, security standards and the development of reusable cloud patterns.
  • Engage with cloud service providers and technology partners to support solution development and continuous improvement.

Key experience and qualifications required for this role include:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure, including at least 5 years in cloud architecture and solution delivery.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise AWS and/or Azure cloud solutions.
  • Deep technical knowledge of core AWS services such as EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch and CloudTrail or equivalent Azure services including Virtual Machines, Virtual Network, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure RBAC, Blob Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure Functions and Azure Monitor.
  • Understanding of AWS and/or Azure Landing Zone concepts and cloud architecture frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automation tooling and DevOps practices.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
  • ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent.
  • Ability to satisfy National Police Check requirements.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles, identity management, networking and infrastructure architecture.
  • Experience designing and delivering cloud solutions in enterprise or hybrid environments.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across cloud infrastructure and integration environments.
  • Experience producing clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams and operational procedures.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and transfer technical knowledge to internal teams.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to staying current with AWS and Azure technologies, architecture patterns and industry practices.

Working Conditions

  • Mon-Fri 5 days in office, South of River work location, close to major train/bus station hub
  • Occasional out-of-hours support may be required for change windows or technical handovers.
  • The successful candidate will be required to meet applicable pre-employment checks and vaccination requirements.
