APS6 Test Analyst
Talent International is currently recruiting for an APS6 Test Analyst to work for one of our Federal Government clients at Parramatta/Penrith. The position is 12 month contract with the possibility of extension. The role pays $850 to $950 per day + Super.
8 hours per day and 40 hours per week
Baseline security clearance is mandatory.
About the role
As a Senior Data Test Analyst, you will support the Test Manager to deliver the test strategy, plans, cases and scripts across data products, data pipelines and platform services.
You will lead testing throughout the program delivery phase and help transition quality processes into future BAU operations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop pipeline monitoring and health checks.
- Investigate data defects and conduct root-cause analysis.
- Perform advanced data validation and reconciliation testing across source systems, data platforms and reporting layers.
- Validate transformation logic, business rules, aggregations, accuracy, completeness, integrity and end-to-end data lineage.
- Review requirements, specifications and solution designs, providing meaningful QA input.
- Develop test plans, test cases and Python/SQL test scripts.
- Build automated processes that support rapid, iterative delivery.
- Identify, document and track defects using GitHub, Azure DevOps or JIRA.
- Partner with business analysts and developers to replicate, resolve and validate issues.
- Conduct regression testing and support user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to usability, accessibility and release quality
About you
To be successful, you will bring:
- A current Baseline security clearance; NV1 may be required.
- At least five years’ software testing or QA experience, with a focus on data products and pipelines.
- Strong, hands-on experience testing large-scale data analytics, data warehouse, data lake or data platform solutions.
- Advanced SQL skills, including writing complex queries for ETL/ELT testing, data-quality testing, reconciliation and data issue analysis.
- Experience developing automated test scripts using Python and SQL.
- Sound knowledge of testing methodologies, tools and delivery lifecycles.
- Demonstrated experience creating test plans and test cases for data-focused solutions.
- Experience using defect-management tools such as GitHub, Azure DevOps or JIRA.
- Experience leading or supporting UAT.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable experience
- Data mesh and data product concepts.
- Metadata management and data profiling.
- Data migration testing.
- Test automation tools, Databricks, enterprise-scale or government projects.
Additional information
This role is 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. A hybrid working approach will apply, with face-to-face and Teams-based engagement. Occasional interstate travel may be required.
