About the Role

Our client, a leading organisation in the aviation sector, is seeking an experienced Senior SAP BASIS Consultant to join their team on a 12-month contract starting 1st November.

In this key role, you will manage and support a complex SAP landscape across ECC6, NetWeaver Portal, ABAP/Java dual-stack systems, and SAP BusinessObjects. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring system stability, security, and performance through expert administration, proactive monitoring, and close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

SAP Landscape Support

  • Provide end-to-end support for SAP ECC6, NetWeaver Portal, ABAP/Java stacks, and SAP BusinessObjects.

  • Perform daily health checks, monitor background jobs, logs, memory usage, and system performance.

  • Manage Transport Management System (TMS) across dev, QA, and prod environments.

System Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Handle system refreshes, client copies, kernel upgrades, and patch management.

  • Resolve issues including job failures, system dumps, login errors, and performance bottlenecks.

  • Maintain RFC destinations, web services, SSL/SAML/SSO setups, and SAP certificate renewals.

Integration & Security

  • Ensure secure SAP communications and integrations, including RFC and HTTPS configurations.

  • Support SAP Router setup and certificate management for secure connections.

  • Administer user roles, authorisations, and security compliance across SAP systems.

Incident, Change & Documentation

  • Manage incidents and service requests via ServiceNow, ensuring SLA adherence.

  • Apply OSS Notes, coordinate with SAP support for escalations and patch deployments.

  • Document system configurations, procedures, and support audit and ITGC compliance.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Availability

  • Participate in client meetings, share updates, and align on project and support activities.

  • Provide on-call and weekend support to maintain 24/7 system availability.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, and application teams.


Essential Criteria:

  1. Extensive SAP BASIS Experience (10+ years) – Proven track record managing SAP ECC, NetWeaver Portal, and BusinessObjects landscapes.

  2. Transport Management and System Upgrades – Deep expertise in TMS, system refreshes, kernel upgrades, and patching.

  3. System Monitoring and Troubleshooting – Ability to proactively monitor and resolve issues (job failures, dumps, RFC errors, performance bottlenecks).

  4. Security and Access Management – Strong experience in user admin, SSL/SAML/SSO, and compliance with security policies.

  5. Incident and Change Management – Skilled in using ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow) for managing tickets, changes, and documentation.

  6. Collaboration and Communication Skills – Able to effectively engage with technical and non-technical teams across multiple domains.

In this high-impact role, you’ll be responsible for the configuration, optimisation, and support of SAP HCM modules across HR and Payroll. You’ll work closely with business users and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, manage system upgrades, and drive continuous improvement across the platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and maintain SAP HCM modules: OM, PA, TM, Payroll, Benefits, ESS/MSS.

  • Ensure compliance with Australian tax and payroll regulations (ATO).

Essential Criteria:

  1. Proven hands-on experience across SAP HCM modules (OM, PA, TM, Payroll, Benefits, ESS/MSS).

  2. Strong expertise in Australian payroll processing and statutory compliance.

  3. Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and resolve complex HR/payroll issues.

  4. Experience leading SAP HRM enhancements and system upgrades.

  5. Skilled in data uploads/conversions (LSMW, BDC) and end-to-end testing.

  6. Strong communication skills with a proven ability to deliver stakeholder training and documentation.
