The Role

We are seeking experienced Automation Testers to support the delivery of multiple ICT initiatives within a high-performing federal government environment. You will work across a range of projects, contributing to testing strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of automation practices.

Your duties will include:

  • Developing and executing test plans, strategies, and cases
  • Performing automation testing across web-based applications
  • Collaborating with cross-functional agile teams to define test requirements
  • Managing defects and tracking issues using Azure DevOps
  • Supporting UAT activities and stakeholder engagement

Skills and experience we are looking for:

  • Strong experience in automation and software testing roles
  • Proven ability to develop and execute complex test strategies and artefacts
  • Experience working in agile, fast-paced delivery environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and Microsoft environments (desirable)
  • Ability to work effectively in distributed teams

Talent is seeking a Test Analyst with strong Data Migration testing experience for a contract with a large state government based in Brisbane.

Contract details:

  • Brisbane CBD location (2 days WFH pw)
  • Contract until 31.07.2026 + potential for extension
  • $104.07/hour inc super ($832.56/day inc super based on 8 hours)

The Test Analyst will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and quality of structured and unstructured data migrated to a new Grants Management System. You will be responsible for developing and executing test plans, validating data migration processes, and identifying and resolving data discrepancies. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the CGMS project.

Your key responsibilities

  • Test Planning and Strategy: Develop and document comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate the accuracy and integrity of data migration processes for the project.
  • Data Validation and Testing: Perform detailed testing of migrated structured data from CRM 2016 database to D365 Dataverse and migrated documents from SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint online to ensure it meets quality standards, is complete, and aligns with the requirements of the project.
  • Defect Identification and Resolution: Identify, document, and track data discrepancies, errors, and defects during testing, and work with the data migration and development teams to resolve issues.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Liaise with project stakeholders, including business units, and external vendors, to ensure alignment on data migration requirements and testing outcomes.
  • Test Execution and Reporting: Execute test cases, record results, and prepare detailed test reports to provide visibility into the quality of the migrated data and the overall progress of testing activities.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to data migration and testing, and work with the project team to implement mitigation strategies to minimise disruptions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the refinement of testing processes and methodologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of data migration testing.

Requirements:

  • The successful applicant is likely to have at least 3-5 years’ experience including data migration testing roles.
  • Proven experience in data migration testing, including the development and execution of test plans and scripts.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve data discrepancies and issues.
  • Proficiency in testing tools and techniques, including SQL for data validation and querying.
  • Familiarity with data migration methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience in working on large-scale data migration projects within a complex organisational environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.

Other:
Relevant certifications and qualifications are highly desirable and should be clearly noted in applications. These may include:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Level Certification in Software Testing.
  • Experience with data migration testing tools and methodologies.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experienced in validating data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) accuracy from legacy systems into SAP.
  • Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience across all test phases and is skilled in system testing, SIT, UAT, data migration, and production verification testing.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement with the ability to collaborate with users and cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment of testing strategies with business objectives.
