Software Engineer
Our client is a large values-focused Federal Government Agency seeking Software Engineers (APS6 level) to support the design, development and delivery of secure, accessible digital solutions across complex project environments.
This role will suit full stack engineers with strong API development, React/TypeScript, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes and CI/CD experience.
ROLE DETAILS
Location: Melbourne or Geelong VIC
Contract: 12 months + 12-month extension option
Working arrangement: Hybrid (2/3 split)
Security: Baseline preferred, must be able to obtain NV1
Eligibility: Australian Citizen only
Closes: Monday 31st August
ABOUT THE ROLE
You’ll work across software development, systems implementation, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code and containerised applications. You’ll collaborate with business stakeholders, project leads, BAs, QA and technical teams to deliver solutions that are secure, accessible, fit-for-purpose and aligned to architectural principles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement new systems, applications and integrations aligned to best practice and architectural principles.
- Design and develop software solutions and CI/CD pipelines to solve complex problems.
- Write Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and build containerised applications for Kubernetes.
- Document design and development work.
- Actively participate in code reviews to maintain quality and standards.
- Ensure software meets security and accessibility requirements.
- Collaborate with BAs, Project Leads, QA and technical teams to resolve issues and deliver viable solutions.
- Support shift-left testing by working closely with QA early in the development cycle.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience building complex APIs using languages such as Golang and JavaScript/TypeScript, with REST and GraphQL patterns.
- Strong AWS cloud infrastructure experience, including Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
- Experience building containerised applications for Kubernetes using Docker and Helm.
- React and TypeScript experience, including reusable components, state management, API integration and debugging.
- DevOps experience, including CI/CD pipelines using GitHub/GitLab, Artifactory and HashiCorp Vault.
- Familiarity with web accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.2A.
Desirable: React Native/mobile development, Postgres/MySQL deployment and administration, full SDLC delivery, code reviews and automated testing.
