About the Opportunity

Our client is expanding their Defence division and is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of large scale electrical installation and fit out projects across NSW. This is a growth hire, driven by an increasing pipeline of work within a nationally recognised Defence program.

The successful candidate will join a national team delivering multiple projects across Defence sites. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with Defence stakeholders and contribute to the ongoing growth of the business.

Australian Citizens are encouraged to apply, with sponsorship support available for obtaining security clearance where required. NV1 clearance is highly regarded.

The Role

You will manage 2-3 concurrent Defence projects while supporting the successful delivery of electrical installation, fit out, and building services works.

You will have regular client engagement and travel across project sites as required. All travel costs will be covered.

You will also play a key role in mentoring junior team members and supporting broader business growth initiatives within the Defence portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage the end-to-end delivery of electrical installation and fit out projects
* Oversee project delivery from estimation and planning through to commissioning and handover
* Coordinate electricians, subcontractors, suppliers, procurement, and scheduling activities
* Prepare estimates, variations, and support tender submissions
* Monitor and revise project budgets, forecasts, and project performance
* Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
* Manage project commencement, stakeholder engagement, and site mobilisation activities
* Work collaboratively with Commonwealth stakeholders and Defence clients
* Support and mentor junior team members
* Assist in identifying and developing new business opportunities

Essential Requirements, Non Negotiable

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must meet all of the below criteria:

* Australian Citizenship is mandatory
* Must be able to successfully pass a full Police Check and Defence related background screening
* Must have a hands-on Electrical background with trade qualifications
* Must have previous experience working as a Project Manager delivering electrical installation, fit out, construction, or building services projects
* Must have practical experience understanding, estimating, quoting, and managing electrical project delivery
* Experience managing electrical subcontractors, site teams, and project schedules is essential

ABOUT THE ROLE:

You’ll be joining a program to implement a new SaaS/COTS application across multiple divisions needing to be re-baselined and calibrated. You’ll work closely with the executive (CIO and GM level engagement) and lead multiple delivery teams (2-3+) to rebuild cadence, remove blockers, and drive outcomes across multiple workstreams. The environment requires a pragmatic approach to methodology and will require an adaptable approach to get delivery back on track, whilst keeping stakeholders informed with clear reporting and visibility. A background in waterfall project management (Prince2, PMBOK) and Agile (SCRUM, SAFe) would be ideal to enable you to pivot approaches to deliver. In the longer-term, the role will help uplift Agile capability in the team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Stabilise delivery and drive progress across a complex, re-baselined program
  • Facilitate delivery across multiple streams and squads (including vendor-managed resources)
  • Lead core ceremonies and ways of working where they add value (stand-ups, planning, reviews, retros)
  • Actively remove blockers, manage dependencies, and drive action on risks/issues
  • Maintain clear, consistent reporting and transparency on progress, velocity, risks and delivery outcomes
