Project Manager – Service Transition

Location: Sydney
Rate: Up to $1,050 per day
Length: 24 months
Requirement: Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain Government Security Clearance

This role is responsible for leading the transition of a complex, safety-critical system into live operational service, ensuring all people, processes, and systems are fully prepared. You will drive readiness across multiple domains, minimising risk and enabling a smooth and controlled service commencement.

You will be joining a large, nationally significant organisation delivering complex programs within a highly regulated environment. The organisation is known for its focus on safety, innovation, and operational excellence across critical infrastructure services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver end-to-end transition and operational readiness plans aligned to program milestones
  • Engage and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders including operations, engineering, training, and safety teams
  • Oversee training development and ensure workforce competency and certification prior to go-live
  • Ensure operational procedures, manuals, and workflows are updated to reflect new system capabilities
  • Support and lead testing, validation activities, and operational readiness assessments
  • Manage risks and ensure compliance with relevant safety, security, and regulatory standards

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience delivering service transition or operational readiness within aviation, air traffic management, defence, or other safety-critical environments
  • Proven track record working on complex, real-time operational systems (e.g. control systems, command & control, or critical infrastructure platforms)
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and safety frameworks (e.g. CASA, ICAO, Defence, or equivalent highly regulated environments)
  • Experience supporting operational cutover, shadow operations, and live service introduction in high-availability environments
  • Background working closely with operational end users (e.g. controllers, operators, or frontline personnel) rather than purely IT stakeholders
  • Ability to manage transition within 24/7 operational environments where downtime and risk must be tightly controlled

This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering a high-impact program within a critical environment, ideal for someone who thrives in complex, high-stakes transitions and wants to make a tangible difference.
