The Role: The Control Systems Engineer will be accountable for solving non-routine engineering problems, leading defined technical work packages, and providing technical approval within their discipline, experience, and competence as a registered professional engineer.

The Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe, compliant control systems engineering solutions for infrastructure, applying professional engineering judgement to non-routine problems.
  • Lead defined control systems engineering work packages across projects and operations, from design through configuration, testing, commissioning, and handover.
  • Provide technical approval for engineering artefacts within personal discipline, competence, and registration, taking statutory responsibility where required.
  • Configure, program, and maintain PCS7, PLC, RTU, and SCADA systems in accordance with approved designs, formal technical management of change procedures, industry-recognised good engineering design practice, and applicable standards
  • Diagnose and resolve complex operational issues, contributing to incident response, root cause analysis, and reliability improvement.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as an Engineer who is a registered Professional Engineer (Victoria), with commitment to maintaining registration.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain AusCheck CIBC clearance for work on critical infrastructure.
  • Significant experience delivering industrial control systems engineering in operational environments, preferably within water, mining, energy, rail, or other heavy industry.
  • Demonstrated capability in PCS7, PLC, RTU, and SCADA configuration and programming, testing, commissioning, and defect resolution.
  • Proven ability to apply professional engineering judgement to non-routine and complex engineering problems across the control systems lifecycle (design, configuration, commissioning, operation, renewal, and decommissioning).
