Data & Visual Analyst

  • Australia
  • Australian Capital Territory
  • Contract
  • Up to AU$0.00 per annum

Data & Visual Analyst | Power BI, Microsoft Fabric & Reporting Governance

  • Location: ACT (Hybrid)
  • Contract Length: 12 Months + 12 Month Extensions (Based on the organisation’s sole discretion)

About the Position:

This role is about making reporting more useful, more consistent and more trustworthy.

You’ll work across Power BI, Microsoft Fabric and enterprise data sources to build high-quality dashboards and reports, improve reporting standards, assess data quality, and help shape a more unified reporting environment.

The work goes beyond visualisation. You’ll need to understand where the data comes from, how reliable it is, how it should be transformed, and how to present it in a way that supports clear decision-making without creating misleading conclusions.

You’ll also work closely with business and IT stakeholders to turn broad or ambiguous requirements into practical analytics solutions that are structured, maintainable and fit for purpose.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop high-quality Power BI reports and dashboards that communicate insight clearly to business audiences.
  • Build ETL and data preparation processes within Microsoft Fabric using dataflows, pipelines and notebooks.
  • Assess data quality and suitability, identifying limitations and advising on how information should be presented.
  • Lead requirements discussions and contribute to reporting standards, governance and the design of a unified reporting repository.
  • What We Are Looking For
  • Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, data modelling and Row-Level Security.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric, including dataflows, Lakehouses, notebooks and deployment pipelines.
  • Strong ETL, SQL and data modelling capability, with the ability to prepare reliable data for reporting and analytics.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate high-level business requirements into clear, well-scoped reporting outcomes.

Technology & Environment:

  • Power BI, DAX, Power Query & RLS
  • Microsoft Fabric, OneLake & Lakehouse
  • ETL, SQL & Data Preparation
  • Data Modelling, Reporting Governance & Visual Design

A Quick Note Before You Apply:

This role is unlikely to suit candidates whose experience has been limited to dashboard production without deeper involvement in data preparation, modelling, governance and stakeholder-led requirements definition.

The stronger fit is someone who can move comfortably between the data and the audience: understanding what the business is trying to see, validating whether the data supports that story, and designing reporting that is accurate, intuitive and maintainable.

Applicants must be Australian Citizens The role supports hybrid working with flexibility around WFH and in-office presence.
