Data Pipeline Engineer

  • Australia
  • Australian Capital Territory
  • Contract
  • Negotiable
  • Design and build complex AWS data pipelines across APIs, MFT, ETL and streaming
  • 12-month contract + 12-month extension option
  • Australian citizenship required | Must be able to obtain NV1 clearance

Take on a senior, hands-on data engineering role focused on designing, building and optimising the pipelines that move data across a complex cloud environment.

You’ll work primarily across AWS data services, ETL, data processing and automation, building scalable pipelines while working closely with data scientists, analysts and technical specialists to ensure data remains secure, reliable and accessible.

The Role

As a Senior Data Pipeline Engineer, you’ll provide hands-on technical expertise across the design and implementation of cloud-based data pipelines.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, building, testing and deploying pipelines across MFT, APIs, file extracts and other integration patterns
  • Building and maintaining AWS-based ETL and data processing solutions, including AWS Glue
  • Developing data processing streams using technologies such as AWS Kinesis
  • Implementing appropriate security and access controls across data pipelines
  • Automating and optimising pipeline delivery using Terraform, scripting and contemporary engineering practices

About You

We’re particularly interested in:

  • 5+ years’ Data Pipeline Engineering experience within cloud environments
  • Strong AWS experience across data storage, extraction, transformation and processing
  • Experience designing and delivering different pipeline patterns, including MFT, APIs and file extracts
  • Experience with ETL technologies such as AWS Glue, Informatica, dbt or Talend
  • Strong SQL skills and practical understanding of cloud data architecture
  • Experience with Terraform and Agile delivery methodologies
  • Experience with GoAnywhere MFT, Control-M, GitHub, Bitbucket and CI/CD automation would be highly regarded.

Why Consider the Opportunity?

There’s good technical variety in this one. Rather than being focused solely on traditional ETL, you’ll work across APIs, managed file transfer, streaming, cloud data processing, security and automation, with ownership across the pipeline lifecycle from design through to deployment and optimisation.

It’s particularly suited to someone who enjoys staying hands-on while taking greater ownership of how data moves securely and reliably across a large cloud environment.

Data Modeller

  • Australia
  • Australian Capital Territory
  • Contract
  • Up to AU$0.00 per annum

Data Modeller | Enterprise Data Modelling, EDW & Metadata

  • Location: ACT / NSW (Hybrid)
  • Security Clearance: Baseline-Cleared (Mandatory)
  • Contract Length: 12 Months + 12 Month Extension (Based on the Department’s sole discretion)

About the Position:

This is a data modelling role with genuine ownership across the full modelling lifecycle.

You’ll lead the development of conceptual, logical and physical data models across enterprise data warehouse environments, while helping establish the standards, review processes and data dictionary practices that keep those models consistent and usable.

The role sits close to both data engineering and analytics. You’ll work from requirements through to technical implementation, collaborate with developers, testers and data consumers, and contribute to the SQL and ETL work that supports delivery.

There is also a strong capability uplift component. You’ll help improve modelling standards, documentation, release practices and knowledge sharing across the team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead conceptual, logical and physical data modelling across enterprise data warehouse initiatives.
  • Own data dictionary development, modelling standards, peer review and release practices.
  • Develop and maintain SQL analytical and ETL code while supporting technical implementation from analysis through to delivery.
  • Work closely with data consumers, developers, testers and support teams to improve modelling quality and delivery consistency.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Strong experience in enterprise data modelling using metadata or model-driven frameworks.
  • Demonstrated capability across at least two enterprise data warehouse technologies such as MS SQL, Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift or Databricks.
  • Strong SQL capability, including experience reverse-engineering complex end-user SQL and reviewing technical code.
  • Understanding of DevOps, version control and modern delivery practices, supported by programming capability across languages such as Python, SAS, R or Java.

Technology & Environment:

  • Conceptual, Logical & Physical Data Modelling
  • MS SQL, Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift & Databricks
  • SQL, ETL, Metadata & Data Dictionary Management
  • AWS S3, AWS Glue, SAS, DevOps & Version Control

A Quick Note Before You Apply:

This role is unlikely to suit candidates whose recent experience has focused primarily on reporting, analytics or database development without broader ownership of enterprise data modelling.

The stronger fit is someone comfortable moving between data models, metadata, SQL, warehouse structures and delivery standards, while also helping other team members adopt consistent modelling and release practices.

Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a Baseline Security Clearance.
