Role
As a Functional & Technical GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the enterprise geospatial data and application environment. This role requires a strong blend of functional expertise, translating complex business needs into precise technical requirements, and hands-on technical skill in deploying mapping, analysis, and data integration solutions. The Analyst will manage geospatial projects independently, ensure data integrity, and drive the adoption of GIS technology across the organization.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Functional Analysis and Solution Design

  • Requirements Gathering: Lead discovery sessions with business stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Planning, Engineering) to understand spatial information needs and define precise technical and functional requirements for GIS solutions
  • Solution Blueprinting: Design and document the architecture for new geospatial applications, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and data governance policies

    Data Management and Reporting
  • Data Integrity: Oversee the data quality assurance process, performing advanced spatial validation and complex geoprocessing to maintain the accuracy and currency of critical spatial datasets
  • Database Management: Utilize SQL and spatial extensions (PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial) to manage, query, and optimize data stored in relational and spatial databases
  • Spatial Analysis: Conduct advanced spatial analysis (e.g., network analysis, site suitability, proximity analysis) and generate clear, professional map products and reports for executive decision-making
  • Metadata Governance: Ensure all geospatial data assets are documented with comprehensive and compliant metadata

    About You
    To succeed in this role you will need:

    • Extensive hands-on experience working in an enterprise GIS environment
    • Proven ability to translate abstract business challenges into tangible, functional technical specifications
    • Expertise with the ESRI ArcGIS Platform (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online), and Python/ArcPy scripting experience for geospatial analysis and task automation
    • Experience with cloud-based GIS architecture (AWS or Azure).
    • Other geospatial technology experience (such as QGIS, OpenLayers, Leaflet, Metromaps, Google Maps, or similar commercial/open-source mapping tools
