An opportunity is available for an experienced Workforce Modeller to join a major Federal Government transformation program. This role will provide technical leadership across workforce modelling, forecasting and analytics, helping translate complex policy and operational challenges into practical, evidence-based workforce solutions.

The role

Working within a specialist future-state modelling team, you will:

• Design, develop and maintain workforce models, forecasts and analytical solutions.
• Translate complex workforce, policy and operational requirements into scalable technical products.
• Develop implementation scenarios and analytical insights to support executive decision-making.
• Apply advanced problem-solving, systems thinking and solution design within an enterprise Microsoft environment.
• Establish technical standards across documentation, testing, quality assurance and governance.
• Build reusable modelling frameworks and solutions that can be maintained and enhanced over time.
• Mentor analysts, share technical knowledge and strengthen workforce modelling capability across the team.
• Engage with senior stakeholders to communicate findings, manage risks and support reform priorities.

About you

• Strong experience in workforce modelling, forecasting, analytics or a closely related discipline.
• Advanced technical capability in developing sophisticated analytical models and systems.
• The ability to turn complex data, policy and operational questions into clear and practical solutions.
• Experience designing maintainable analytical products using enterprise-approved Microsoft tools and services.
• Strong knowledge of technical documentation, testing, quality assurance and governance practices.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, including mentoring and capability development.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to present authoritative advice on complex matters.
• The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and operate effectively in a changing environment.
• Australian Citizenship is a mandatory requirement to be eligible for this federal government role.

This is an EL1-level contract through to 31 December 2027, offering hybrid working arrangements. Successful candidates will be required to complete relevant pre-engagement screening and role-specific checks.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the collection, analysis and interpretation of customer data and feedback across multiple service channels.
• Conducting customer and user research using techniques such as contextual inquiry, sentiment analysis, usability testing, A/B and multivariate testing, and surveys.
• Performing customer and driver analysis to identify trends, behaviours, pain points and opportunities for service improvement.
• Developing high-quality customer experience reports, dashboards and actionable insights.
• Translating complex research and analytics into clear recommendations for business and product stakeholders.
• Building strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams and embedding customer insights into decision-making.
• Facilitating workshops and presentations and using strong storytelling techniques to communicate research findings.
• Contributing to the development and maintenance of customer research and insights repositories.

About You

You will be an experienced customer insights, research or analytics professional who is comfortable combining quantitative and qualitative data to understand customer behaviour and improve services.

You will bring:

• Strong experience collecting, analysing and interpreting customer data and feedback.
• Experience working with customer information across voice, chat, digital and/or face-to-face channels.
• Demonstrated experience in customer insights, customer experience, market research, user research or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to identify trends, drivers and meaningful insights from complex datasets.
• Experience producing dashboards, reports and executive-level insights.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including workshop facilitation and presentations.
• The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-profile environment with changing priorities.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Providing statistical and actuarial advice.
• Providing oversight and management of reporting, analysis and data management activities as required, including regular performance monitoring.
• Designing actuarial, statistical and mathematical models to undertake analytical work that respond to business issues, including actuarial monitoring and analyses, data tabulations, scheme projects and cost benefit analyses.
• Undertaking ad hoc modelling requests and report production.
• Presenting the outcomes of work undertaken, tailored to context via verbal and written communication.

What You’ll Bring:

• Proven experience in providing statistical and actuarial advice with a strong understanding of modeling, data analysis, and reporting.
• Ability to develop and oversee advanced actuarial, statistical, and mathematical models addressing complex business issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex results to different audiences.
• Demonstrated experience in managing reporting, analysis, and data management activities, including performance monitoring.
• Strong project management skills, with a history of prioritizing tasks and leveraging resources to meet deadlines.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Hands-on experience with ad hoc modeling requests and report generation.
• Ability to influence, persuade, and build relationships with stakeholders to support strategic priorities.
• Familiarity with government programs or large-scale operational frameworks.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Advanced degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields.
• Significant actuarial or analytical experience, preferably within a government or large organization.
• Proven leadership experience managing teams and projects involving complex data and strategic insights.
