This is not a theoretical AI role. It is a hands-on opportunity to work directly with portfolio managers, analysts and key business owners to identify high-value problems, build practical AI and data solutions, and embed them into the way key decisions are researched, monitored and made.
Our client is looking for someone who can spot opportunity, cut through noise, build fast, and apply sound judgement on when AI is the right answer, and when it is not.
You will sit close to the Investment team day to day, while staying connected to the wider Data, Insights & AI function. That means you get the best of both worlds: direct exposure to a high-performing business domain, and the backing of enterprise data, governance and technology foundations already in place.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Working directly with portfolio managers, analysts and the wider business to identify high-value AI and data opportunities
- Designing, prototyping and building AI tools, agents, automations and analytical solutions
- Embedding solutions into real investment workflows so they are adopted, not just demonstrated
- Creating reusable prompts, agents, tools and patterns that can scale across teams
- Coaching non-technical users to use sanctioned AI tools confidently and safely
- Working with enterprise technology, data, architecture, security and governance teams to make solutions secure, reliable and production-ready
- Applying honest judgement on whether the right solution is AI, better data, process improvement, or no build at all
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on Python experience, with practical experience integrating APIs, data and modern AI or LLM tooling into working solutions
- Experience designing and delivering technology, data or AI solutions that solve real business problems and are adopted by end users
- Good understanding of modern AI tooling, including LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, agents or AI-assisted workflows
- Comfortable working with structured and unstructured data in a governed cloud data environment, ideally Databricks, Azure or similar
- Sound engineering discipline across version control, testing, documentation, reliability and safe production practices
- Proven ability to take ambiguous ideas from discovery through to deployed, usable solutions
- Strong stakeholder skills, especially with non-technical users in complex or high-trust environments
- The judgement to know when AI is not the answer, and the discipline to build for reuse, reliability and safe use
- Strong exposure to the financial services sector, or heavily regulated environments.
