We’re seeking a Data Governance Business Analyst to support enterprise data initiatives. You’ll facilitate workshops to identify critical data assets, roll out an Information Classification Framework, capture “as is” and design “to be” processes, and help embed data governance practices. Strong stakeholder engagement, core BA skills, and data governance project experience required. Utilities/mining experience desirable.

Qualifications:

  • Core BA skills, such as data analysis in Excel, facilitating workshops, requirements gathering, benefits identification and realisation.
  • Soft skills, such as those required to effectively communicate complex concepts in layperson terms, and to appropriately manage stakeholder expectations.
  • “As is “process capture and “to be” process design.
  • Lean process improvement to identify areas of waste or areas of a process that can be improved.
  • Working in an agile environment, whilst not necessarily implementing an Agile methodology.
  • Project establishment and closure activities, such as problem identification/definition, development of business cases, identification of project budgets, and operational handover support (including development of associated documentation).

Senior Business Analyst - Energy & Utilities

This is a high-visibility, 12-month initial contract within the Market Compliance and Process & Change team, acting as the vital link between complex national market protocols and technical execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Analysis: Interpret complex national energy market protocols and legislative changes, translating them into actionable business requirements and technical specifications.

  • Process Engineering: Lead the design of “Future State” business processes, conducting deep-dive gap analysis to ensure operational readiness across customer-facing and technical teams.

    Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate high-level discovery workshops with subject matter experts, regulatory bodies, and IT delivery squads to drive consensus in ambiguous environments.
  • End-to-End Delivery: Own the requirements lifecycle from initial Business Impact Assessments (BIA) through to supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and final go-live.

Key Requirements

  • Australian Utilities Expertise: Extensive experience as a Senior BA within the Australian Energy sector (DNSP, Transmission, or Retail) is essential.

  • Regulatory Frameworks: A proven track record of delivering on large-scale regulatory reform, market compliance, or industry-mandated data exchange projects.

  • Technical Literacy: Advanced skills in process mapping (BPMN 2.0) and the ability to map complex data flows between legacy systems and modern market portals.

  • Strategic Communication: Exceptional influencing skills with the ability to simplify intricate regulatory concepts for executive-level stakeholders.
