Health, Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner - Logistics

  • Australia
  • Brisbane
  • Permanent
  • AU$120000 - AU$148000 per annum

Take ownership of safety across a diverse logistics network covering Queensland and New South Wales. This newly created, Brisbane-based role offers genuine autonomy, access to senior leaders and the opportunity to shape practical safety systems as an established organisation expands its external logistics operations.

About the client

Our client is an established, highly regarded organisation with a growing logistics division servicing both internal operations and an expanding portfolio of external customers.
Following significant investment in experienced senior leadership, technology and operational systems, the business is entering an exciting new phase of growth. This dedicated Health, Safety & Well being Business Partner position has been created to provide specialist support tailored to logistics, transport and warehousing operations.
The logistics network includes warehousing, container movements, port collections, rail heads, heavy freight and specialised loads, supported by internal teams and third-party transport providers.

About the role

Based in Brisbane, this is a highly operational, field-based position for a safety professional who enjoys being visible, building relationships and solving practical problems on site.
Partnering closely with logistics leaders, you will provide hands-on safety support across Queensland and New South Wales. Your vehicle will effectively become your office, with regular site visits, toolbox meetings, operational reviews and incident investigations forming an important part of your week.
This is a newly created role, providing the freedom to establish effective ways of working and influence how safety is embedded as the logistics business grows. You will be trusted to manage your own schedule, identify priorities and provide practical solutions without being micromanaged.
Regular regional and interstate travel will be required, with flexibility to attend early-morning operational meetings when needed.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with operational leaders to improve health, safety and well being performance
  • Provide practical safety advice across transport, warehousing and logistics operations
  • Conduct regular site visits, risk assessments and operational safety reviews
  • Coach leaders and front line teams to strengthen safety capability and accountability
  • Lead and support incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement
  • Support heavy-vehicle compliance and Chain of Responsibility requirements
  • Improve controls relating to driver fatigue, traffic management and vehicle movements
  • Provide guidance across forklift operations, contractor management and high-risk activities
  • Support safe systems for Lock Out Tag Out, working at heights and other critical risks
  • Monitor safety performance, trends, KPIs and emerging operational risks
  • Assist the business in demonstrating strong safety performance during customer tenders
  • Escalate serious concerns and stop work where an immediate safety risk exists
  • Build a proactive safety culture based on trust, engagement and practical action

About you

You are an experienced safety professional with a background in transport, logistics, warehousing or supply chain operations. You understand the realities of operational environments and can translate safety requirements into practical solutions that work on the ground.
Heavy-vehicle experience is highly desirable, including exposure to Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, traffic management and on-road compliance.
You will also bring:

  • Experience supporting transport, warehousing, distribution or logistics operations
  • Strong knowledge of operational risk management and HSE compliance
  • Understanding of heavy vehicles, mobile plant and forklift-related risks
  • Experience with contractor management and incident investigation
  • Confidence working across multiple sites and operational environments
  • The ability to communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse teams and senior executives
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to safety
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills
  • The confidence to challenge unsafe practices constructively
  • The ability to work autonomously across a geographically dispersed territory
  • Flexibility to travel regularly and attend early operational meetings
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in work health and safety or a related discipline

Most importantly, you will be approachable, credible and comfortable spending your time in the operation. This opportunity will suit someone who builds trust and partners with people-not someone who approaches safety as a policing function.

What’s in it for you?

  • A newly created position you can genuinely make your own
  • The opportunity to shape safety systems and ways of working
  • A high level of autonomy and trust from an empowering manager
  • Direct exposure to experienced operational and senior leaders
  • A varied, field-based role where every day is different
  • The chance to influence safety across a growing logistics network
  • Significant organisational investment in technology, systems and operational improvement
  • Career development as the logistics division expands into new markets
  • A salary package of $135,000-$148,000 including superannuation
  • Potential flexibility for an exceptional candidate
  • A fully maintained tool-of-trade vehicle

If you are a practical logistics safety professional who enjoys working alongside operations and wants the freedom to create meaningful change, we would welcome your application.

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Technical Business Analyst to join a key Queensland Government technology environment, working across complex ICT services, systems integration and business transformation.

This is a hands-on technical BA role where you’ll work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand complex requirements, analyse systems and interfaces, and translate business needs into clear, detailed business and system requirements specifications.

If your strengths sit at the intersection of business analysis, data, systems integration and process modelling, this is an opportunity to work on meaningful technology initiatives with real impact.

You’ll play a key role in bridging the gap between business requirements and technical delivery, including:

  • Engaging with stakeholders to uncover and articulate high-level business and technology needs
  • Analysing and translating requirements into detailed business and system specifications
  • Working across system interfaces, integrations and third-party solutions
  • Performing data analysis, particularly around interfaces, integration and data transformation
  • Analysing and documenting interface requirements and supporting reconciliation outputs
  • Undertaking detailed business process modelling using BPMN
  • Assessing information system capabilities and recommending appropriate solution options
  • Building strong relationships across technical teams, business stakeholders, clients and vendors
  • Communicating complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Hands-on experience with data analysis and data transformation
  • Significant BPMN / business process modelling experience
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving capability
  • Experience evaluating technical information and identifying practical, cost-effective solutions
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Why this opportunity?

This is a great fit for someone who enjoys getting into the technical detail rather than operating purely at the business/process level.

You’ll join a collaborative project delivery environment supporting important government ICT services, with exposure across integration, data, systems, stakeholders and technology delivery. The position is Brisbane-based and sits within an established project delivery team.
