Java Developer - (APIs & Microservices)

  • Australia
  • Brisbane
  • Contract
  • INC Super

We’re looking for an experienced Java / API Developer to join a major enterprise transformation program, building high-volume, mission-critical integration services that support millions of customer interactions.

This is a highly hands-on development role suited to an engineer who enjoys spending the majority of their time designing, coding, testing and delivering production-grade Java applications.

You’ll work within an experienced Agile engineering team using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes and Kafka to build modern APIs, microservices and event-driven applications at enterprise scale.

About the Role

As a Java / API Developer, you’ll be responsible for the hands-on development and delivery of enterprise integration services.

You’ll take solution designs and requirements through to working production code, developing new services and APIs, enhancing existing applications, troubleshooting technical issues and contributing to the ongoing improvement of the platform.

This role will particularly suit someone who is technically strong, still actively coding and wants to remain hands-on rather than move into a purely architecture position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on development of Java and Spring Boot microservices
  • Design, build and maintain secure, scalable REST APIs
  • Develop enterprise integration and event-driven services using Apache Kafka
  • Write clean, maintainable and production-ready Java code
  • Build and deploy cloud-native applications across AWS and Kubernetes (EKS)
  • Develop automated unit, integration and API tests
  • Debug and troubleshoot complex application and production issues
  • Optimise application performance, reliability and scalability
  • Work with Docker, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling
  • Participate in code reviews, pair programming and technical problem-solving
  • Work closely with Solution Architects and other developers to translate designs into working software
  • Contribute to engineering standards and development best practices

Skills & Experience

  • Java
  • Spring Boot
  • REST API development
  • Microservices
  • Apache Kafka
  • AWS
  • Kubernetes / EKS
  • Event-driven architecture
  • Docker and containerisation
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Automated testing
  • Enterprise integration
  • Distributed systems
  • Secure software development
  • Performance optimisation
  • Agile software delivery

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who is comfortable getting into the code and building complex backend services, rather than operating primarily at an architecture or management level.

What’s on Offer?

  • 6-month contract
  • $700-$800 per day (inc. super)
  • Hybrid working environment
  • Major enterprise cloud transformation program
  • Modern engineering stack including Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka and Kubernetes

Security Engineer - (Detection & Response)

  • Australia
  • Brisbane
  • Contract
  • INC Super

Own the platforms at the heart of modern security operations

We’re looking for a Senior Security Operations Engineer to take ownership of a sophisticated detection and response environment, spanning EDR/XDR, detection engineering, cloud security posture, SOAR and AI-assisted security operations.

This is a hands-on senior engineering role for someone who wants more than simply operating security tooling. You’ll help shape how the platforms are configured, integrated and automated – building detection capability as code and helping develop the next generation of AI-assisted investigation and response.

You’ll work across technologies including CrowdStrike Falcon, Next-Gen SIEM, CSPM/CNAPP platforms, Python, APIs, Git and CI/CD, with opportunities to work on AI agents and emerging security automation capabilities.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own and enhance the EDR/XDR platform stack end-to-end, including policy configuration, tuning, custom detection rules and real-time response.
  • Develop capabilities across identity threat detection and response (ITDR) and exposure management.
  • Build and improve detection engineering as code, working closely with security analysts.
  • Help develop AI-assisted investigation and triage capabilities, including agents within Charlotte AI / CrowdStrike.
  • Build feedback loops between detections, investigations and platform integrations to continually improve security outcomes.
  • Develop and integrate SOAR and automation capabilities within a Next-Gen SIEM environment.
  • Own cloud and SaaS security posture, including CSPM/CNAPP onboarding, policies, frameworks, runtime security, secrets and identity scanning.
  • Integrate cloud security posture capabilities with SIEM and the broader security operations ecosystem.
  • Build integrations and automation using Python and APIs, supported by Git and CI/CD practices.

What we’re looking for

You’ll bring strong hands-on security engineering experience and genuine depth across modern detection and response platforms.

Essential experience:

  • Deep technical expertise with enterprise EDR/XDR platforms, ideally CrowdStrike Falcon.
  • Strong CSPM/CNAPP and cloud security posture experience, with Wiz highly regarded.
  • Hands-on detection engineering experience, including managing the detection lifecycle as code.
  • Experience with security platform query languages such as CQL or equivalent.
  • Strong SOAR, automation and security integration experience.
  • Practical development capability with Python and APIs.
  • Experience working with Git and CI/CD pipelines.

Highly regarded

Experience with any of the following will set you apart:

  • CrowdStrike across EDR, Next-Gen SIEM, Cloud Security and related capabilities.
  • Wiz.
  • AI-assisted security operations and building AI agents.
  • OpenAI / Codex technologies.
  • Identity Threat Detection & Response (ITDR).
  • Security across AWS, Azure and/or GCP.
  • Advanced detection engineering and security automation.

Why consider this opportunity?

This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of a modern SecOps platform environment rather than simply maintaining existing tooling.

You’ll work at the intersection of security engineering, detection and response, cloud security, automation and AI, helping build capabilities that directly improve how threats are identified, investigated and contained.

  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills
  • The confidence to challenge unsafe practices constructively
  • The ability to work autonomously across a geographically dispersed territory
  • Flexibility to travel regularly and attend early operational meetings
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in work health and safety or a related discipline

Most importantly, you will be approachable, credible and comfortable spending your time in the operation. This opportunity will suit someone who builds trust and partners with people-not someone who approaches safety as a policing function.

What’s in it for you?

  • A newly created position you can genuinely make your own
  • The opportunity to shape safety systems and ways of working
  • A high level of autonomy and trust from an empowering manager
  • Direct exposure to experienced operational and senior leaders
  • A varied, field-based role where every day is different
  • The chance to influence safety across a growing logistics network
  • Significant organisational investment in technology, systems and operational improvement
  • Career development as the logistics division expands into new markets
  • A salary package of $135,000-$148,000 including superannuation
  • Potential flexibility for an exceptional candidate
  • A fully maintained tool-of-trade vehicle

If you are a practical logistics safety professional who enjoys working alongside operations and wants the freedom to create meaningful change, we would welcome your application.

Technical Business Analyst

  • Australia
  • Brisbane
  • Contract
  • INC Super

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Technical Business Analyst to join a key Queensland Government technology environment, working across complex ICT services, systems integration and business transformation.

This is a hands-on technical BA role where you’ll work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand complex requirements, analyse systems and interfaces, and translate business needs into clear, detailed business and system requirements specifications.

If your strengths sit at the intersection of business analysis, data, systems integration and process modelling, this is an opportunity to work on meaningful technology initiatives with real impact.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll play a key role in bridging the gap between business requirements and technical delivery, including:

  • Engaging with stakeholders to uncover and articulate high-level business and technology needs
  • Analysing and translating requirements into detailed business and system specifications
  • Working across system interfaces, integrations and third-party solutions
  • Performing data analysis, particularly around interfaces, integration and data transformation
  • Analysing and documenting interface requirements and supporting reconciliation outputs
  • Undertaking detailed business process modelling using BPMN
  • Assessing information system capabilities and recommending appropriate solution options
  • Building strong relationships across technical teams, business stakeholders, clients and vendors
  • Communicating complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

What we’re looking for

We’re particularly interested in Technical BAs who can demonstrate:

  • Strong experience as a Technical Business Analyst within complex ICT environments
  • Excellent requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation skills
  • Experience converting technical and business requirements into detailed business/system requirements specifications
  • Strong systems integration and interface analysis experience
  • Hands-on experience with data analysis and data transformation
  • Significant BPMN / business process modelling experience
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving capability
  • Experience evaluating technical information and identifying practical, cost-effective solutions
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Why this opportunity?

This is a great fit for someone who enjoys getting into the technical detail rather than operating purely at the business/process level.

You’ll join a collaborative project delivery environment supporting important government ICT services, with exposure across integration, data, systems, stakeholders and technology delivery. The position is Brisbane-based and sits within an established project delivery team.

Contract: 6 months
Rate: $130-$140 per hour including super
Location: Brisbane
