We are seeking an Operations Officer – Water to join a highly regarded environmental science team responsible for delivering water quality monitoring, field operations and scientific assessments across Victoria.

It is a fixed term contract until end of October 2026, based in Macleod.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct freshwater and marine field sampling across Victoria, including work from boats, rivers, creeks, lakes and bays.
  • Collect environmental samples including water and sediment.
  • Prepare, process and store laboratory samples.
  • Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot scientific monitoring equipment.
  • Manage, validate and analyse environmental monitoring data, ensuring quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC).
  • Assist with the procurement and management of scientific equipment and external service providers

You will ideally have:

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in Environmental Science, Marine Science, Freshwater Science, Ecology or a related discipline.
  • Experience undertaking environmental or water quality field sampling (highly desirable).
  • Experience working in laboratory environments and following quality systems.
  • Experience maintaining and calibrating scientific monitoring equipment.
  • Strong data management and analytical skills, including QA/QC processes.
