Job Summary / Overview
The Water Design Engineer is responsible for delivering detailed design deliverables for water infrastructure projects across mining operations. This role leads hydraulic modelling and ensures designs meet Australian standards, project requirements and operational needs. The position contributes across the full project lifecycle from design through to construction support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hydraulic modelling of pipelines, borefields, pump stations, ponds and tanks
  • Prepare and compile technical work packages including drawings, estimates and scope definitions
  • Facilitate design reviews including field inspections and stakeholder engagement
  • Develop engineering deliverables such as pipeline schematics, GAs and P&IDs
  • Contribute to capital estimates through quantity take offs and MTOs
  • Coordinate operational readiness requirements
  • Support construction through technical queries and document updates
  • Produce equipment data sheets and assess vendor proposals
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, standards and procedures
  • Communicate design progress, risks and changes clearly across disciplines

Required Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering or Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in mechanical piping systems and pipeline design
  • Full Australian working rights

Skills & Competencies

  • Hydraulic modelling and water infrastructure design
  • Knowledge of Australian and international standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to self start and deliver to schedule and budget
  • Problem solving mindset
  • Competency in Visio and ArcMap is preferable

Working Conditions (Optional)

  • Perth CBD based
  • Ability to travel to site for short visits as required
