VAVE Engineer – Perth Airport – Contract

Our client is a leading company in the mining industry, dedicated to innovation and sustainability. In support of their strong focus on green energy and carbon neutrality targets, one of the key initiatives involves Heavy Industry projects aimed at developing and testing a range of technologies to power mining fleets and rail locomotives.

Are you passionate about optimizing product designs and processes to drive cost reduction and value enhancement? Our client is seeking a VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) Engineer to join our Infinity rail project. Reporting to the Heavy Industry Integration Principal Engineer, you will play a key role in maximizing value while minimizing costs in our rail projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive cost analyses of existing products and processes.
  • Apply value engineering principles to optimize product designs, processes, and materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cost-effective solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend alternative materials, manufacturing methods, and technologies.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to reduce material costs and enhance supply chain efficiency.
  • Assess and optimize manufacturing processes for increased efficiency.
  • Conduct lifecycle cost analyses, considering the entire product lifecycle.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with cost reduction strategies.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of cost analyses and improvement initiatives.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Cost, Systems, or related field).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in VAVE or Cost Engineering.
  • Strong technical skills with proficiency in engineering principles, design processes, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven negotiation skills and experience in supplier relationship management.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards related to product design and manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and the ability to develop cost models.
  • A continuous learner with a proactive approach to staying updated on industry trends and best practices.
