About the Role

The Triage Officer is responsible for receiving, reviewing and triaging applications for financial assistance to ensure they are ready for assessment. You will analyse applications and supporting documentation, make interim decisions on urgent matters, manage authorised payments, and communicate with applicants.

Working closely with internal teams and external agencies, you will support applicants through the process, request additional information where required.

Key Accountabilities

  • Review and triage applications for financial assistance, determining priority and complexity

  • Analyse documentary evidence and provide advice on evidence requirements to support assessment

  • Make interim decisions on urgent applications to address immediate needs

  • Provide appropriate responses and referrals to other support services and agencies

  • Liaise with applicants and representatives to obtain additional information or documentation
  • Review and process payments, including authorised future expenses and invoices

Required

  • Experience delivering victim support services or working with people affected by trauma

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with victim survivors in a respectful, empathetic and sensitive manner

  • Strong commitment to trauma-informed practice and victim-centred service delivery

  • Experience using Salesforce or similar case management systems
  • Experience in processing payments is desirable
