Transition Consultant, Aviation, Service Transition, ATC Program

  • Sydney

  • 24 month contract

  • Hybrid, typically 2 days from home

  • Australian Citizen eligible for baseline clearance

Overview

Our client in the aviation sector is delivering a major, multi year program to modernise Transport Control System technology. This program includes multiple sub programs in a multi vendor environment, consolidating multiple legacy systems into singular platforms.

They are seeking three Transition Consultants to support the safe, compliant, and operationally ready introduction of a new system into service. These consultants will work closely with Program Managers and a broad matrix of technical, safety, cyber, operational readiness, and organisational change stakeholders to ensure smooth transition from project delivery into BAU operations.

This is a transition heavy role, not a “small service desk handover” kind of transition. Think complex infrastructure, systems, and people, in a regulated environment where safety and risk management aren’t optional extras.

  • Coordinate across matrix teams, including engineering, cyber, OCM, training, safety and operations

  • Drive training and competency readiness, including workforce readiness, certification, and role competence before cutover

  • Ensure procedures, manuals, and workflows are updated to reflect new capabilities and operating concepts

  • Support operational trials, simulations, shadow operations, and cutover rehearsals

  • Lead readiness validation, including scenario testing and user acceptance activities

You will have:

  • Proven end to end transition experience moving large programs from project into BAU, essential

  • Strong project or program background, essential

  • Experience in a regulated environment, essential, aviation is ideal but defence, critical infrastructure, engineering heavy organisations, utilities, telecoms, transport also align well

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, you can work with operational users and technical teams without becoming a “human Jira ticket”

  • Demonstrated operational readiness planning capability, including governance gates, cutover readiness, and early life support

  • Strong risk management approach and a safety first mindset

  • Ability to coordinate matrix resources without direct line management

Security requirements

  • Australian Citizenship required
