Technical Support Engineer | Defence ICT (High-Security) | Satellite & 24/7 Network Operations

  • Engagement: Permanent, full-time (24/7 rostered shift environment)
  • Security Clearance: NV1 Clearance (Minimum) | TS preferred or ability to upgrade

Inside the role:

  • Team Environment: Small, operationally tight-knit SATCOM team working alongside Defence personnel on live systems (Wideband and Narrowband).
  • Core Function: Tier-1 operational management of Defence Satellite Comms – monitoring, provisioning, analysis, escalation, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Salary Package (Super included): 93,000 – $100,000 | Flexibility to earn up-to $130,000 due to 24/7 roster engagement)

You will be actively involved within a structured 24/7 roster that ensures balanced coverage and ongoing exposure to real-time operations. Key responsibilities of the position:

  • Deliver first and second-level technical support across satellite and network systems in a live operational environment.
  • Conduct monitoring, analysis, and fault triage of communications systems, escalating issues promptly where required.
  • Support configuration, provisioning, and commissioning of network elements and services.
  • Maintain accurate logs of all incidents and actions, ensuring compliance with Defence and internal policies.
  • Collaborate closely with shift leads and key stakeholders on fault resolution and service assurance.
  • Contribute to process improvement, documentation updates, and development of standard operating procedures.

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in ICT Support, Service Desk, or Technical Operations.
  • Strong technical grounding in network fundamentals, troubleshooting, and configuration management.
  • Hands-on experience in a service-oriented or 24/7 operations environment.
  • Proven ability to work within high-security or mission-critical systems environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proactive and collaborative working style.

Desirable skills & experience:

  • Exposure to satellite communications (Wideband/Narrowband) or telecommunications systems.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and control systems, spectrum or signal analysis tools.
  • Previous experience in Defence, Defence industry, or secure operations centres.
  • Understanding of cryptographic or secure communications frameworks.
