Technical Lead
Talent International, a leading Australian recruitment firm, have been engaged to recruit a Tech Lead for a fast-growing Australian technology company operating at the intersection of fintech, payments and e-commerce.

Role Title: Tech Lead
Salary: $160,000 – $170,000 + Super
Location + WFH Flexibility: Sydney CBD | Hybrid Working (2-3 days in office)
Role Details:
As a senior member of the engineering team, you will play a key role in shaping architecture, reviewing code, mentoring engineers and delivering high-quality software across a modern technology stack.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll spend approximately 50% of your time building software and 50% of your time driving engineering excellence through collaboration, design reviews and technical decision-making.
Working closely with founders, product and engineering teams, you’ll have the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges while helping scale a platform used by leading retail and consumer brands.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver production-grade features across the stack, with a strong focus on backend development
* Lead code reviews and establish best practices across the engineering function
* Contribute to architecture and system design discussions
* Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to deliver customer-focused solutions
* Drive adoption of modern AI-assisted development practices and tooling
* Mentor junior engineers and help elevate technical standards
* Own projects end-to-end from design through deployment and optimisation
Required Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Staff Engineer or Technical Lead
* Strong backend engineering expertise, ideally within Python-based environments
* Excellent Computer Science fundamentals including software design, algorithms and data structures
* Experience designing and building scalable production systems
* Strong code review and technical leadership capability
* Comfortable influencing technical direction and challenging ideas constructively
* Experience working in high-performing engineering environments
* Passion for leveraging AI tools to improve software development productivity and quality
Nice to Have:
* Experience with Python, Flask, FastAPI, React, React Native or TypeScript
* Experience with cloud-native or serverless architectures
* Strong SQL and database optimisation skills
* Exposure to e-commerce, payments or transactional platforms
* Experience working within recognised technology, product or data-driven organisations
