Team Lead – Installer (State Government Project)
We are seeking an experienced Team Lead to oversee a team of installers completing a large-scale program across a fleet of vehicles. This role supports both metro and regional operations and ensures the safe, compliant installation of new electronic docking systems and associated equipment.
About the Role
The Team Lead is responsible for coordinating installation crews, managing workflow, ensuring safety and compliance, and maintaining quality standards. The role is not on the tools day-to-day, but requires strong technical understanding of vehicle electronics, installation practices and Australian Design Rules (ADR) compliance.
You will supervise teams operating either in metro Adelaide or in regional locations across South Australia. Regional teams travel on Monday, work on site Monday-Friday, and fly home at the end of the week. Flights, accommodation and meal allowances are provided.
This 6-month assignment has the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, supervise and support crews of installers and trade assistants

Plan daily work schedules and coordinate installation activities

Oversee quality control for all installation tasks

Ensure compliance with Australian Design Rules and safety standards

Review installation diagrams, kits and specifications

Liaise with project coordinators on progress, timelines and site readiness

Maintain safety standards for equipment handling and in-vehicle work

Act as a responsible person for vehicle handling and site safety
Installation Scope Overview
This project covers the retrofit of ePCR docking systems into fleet vehicles. Installations must be performed in line with strict ADR requirements including:

Airbag clearance and non-interference

Object restraint of equipment >1kg

Safe positioning of brackets and devices
-
Ensuring MDT visibility and reversibility
-
Maintaining access to centre console features
-
Ergonomic placement for removal and in-motion use
Installers will work from pre-built kits and diagrams supplied for each vehicle variant.
Required Skills & Experience

Current Australian driver’s licence
-
Current National Police Check
-
Experience with vehicle electronics installation (radios, stereos, cabling, etc.)

Ability to operate drills, pliers, crimpers and hand tools

Ability to run and connect cables to IT/electrical systems
-
Strong safety awareness and adherence to compliance standards

Experience reading diagrams, kits and installation instructions

Leadership or supervisory experience within a technical or trade environment

Ability to manage a team in metro or remote locations

Excellent communication and organisational skills

Responsible, reliable and able to work autonomously

Willingness to travel for regional work (metro team exempt)
Desirable

Auto electrical trade background

Radio technician or telecommunications installation experience

Experience working on government or fleet vehicle modifications

Understanding of ADRs or vehicle compliance requirements

Previous experience in field-based or regional project delivery
