Systems Engineer - Federal Government
- 24 month ongoing fixed term contract with the option to convert to perm

We are on the lookout for an experienced Systems Engineer to deploy and maintain virtualized infrastructure using VMware hypervisors, manage Windows and Linux server environments, and support containerized workloads using Kubernetes. The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise in virtualization, system administration, and container orchestration to ensure high availability, scalability, and security of enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
- VMware Deployment & Management
- Install, configure, and maintain VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter environments.
- Perform upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting of VMware infrastructure.
- Monitor performance and optimize resource allocation across virtual machines.
- Windows & Linux System Administration
- Manage and maintain Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Implement security hardening, patch management, and backup strategies.
- Troubleshoot OS-level issues and ensure system reliability and uptime.
- Containerization & Orchestration
- Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters for containerized applications.
- Configure networking, storage, and security policies within Kubernetes.
- Monitoring & Documentation
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Collaboration & Support
- Provide technical support and guidance for infrastructure-related projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). Engineering degree is fine as well
- Proven experience with VMware ESXi and vCenter administration.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu) environments.
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and storage technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
