We are partnering with a well-respected membership services organisation that is passionate about empowering professionals and delivering value to its broad member base. They are currently seeking an exceptional Strategic Portfolio Manager to join their high-performing Strategy & EPMO team and play a pivotal role in executing their organisational strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned leader in program and portfolio delivery to step into a high-impact, senior leadership role managing a large-scale strategic portfolio and a team of dedicated project and program managers.

Your brand-new role will see you responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of the organisation’s strategic initiatives. Including overseeing program/project delivery, managing interdependencies, optimising resource allocation, and ensuring successful outcomes across a portfolio valued at up to $20 million.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of a strategic portfolio of complex programs and projects.
  • Lead a team of 5-10 program and project managers to deliver results on time, on budget, and to scope.
  • Optimise resource utilisation and manage project sequencing to maximise return on investment.
  • Provide governance, oversight, and regular reporting across the portfolio.
  • Serve as the escalation point for portfolio-level risks, conflicts, and issues.
  • Monitor and manage the strategic portfolio budget, ensuring compliance with internal financial frameworks.
  • Drive continuous improvement and keep up to date with best practices in portfolio and program delivery.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders across Strategy, Technology, Finance, Legal, Procurement, and more.

Skills and experience

  • Minimum 15+ years’ experience in program and portfolio management.
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing complex, multi-stream project environments.
  • A strong commercial mindset with experience managing large budgets and vendor relationships.
  • Deep understanding of delivery frameworks such as PMBOK, Prince2, and Agile.
  • A collaborative, coaching leadership style that motivates high-performing teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills.
  • A degree in Business, IT, or a related field is required.
  • Experience working within member-based or purpose-driven organisations will be highly regarded.
