Sr Azure Cloud Engineer (Authentication, C#/ASP.Net, API, DevOps)
We are currently seeking a Sr Azure Cloud Engineer for a large state government client based in Brisbane CBD.
Contract Details:
- Until 17.08.2026 + Likely extensions
- $146.02/hour inc super (or $1168.16/day inc super based on 8 hours)
- Brisbane CBD location
The Senior Azure Cloud Engineer will be to work closely with the lead developer, solution architect, subject matter experts, business analysts and testers to deliver on functional and non-functional requirements. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of azure solutions, aligned to business, security and compliance requirements, and a key participant in the delivery and deployment of the final product. You are required to work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the final products integrate and function as expected with interfacing applications.
Responsibilities:
- Design Azure solutions aligned with business, security, and compliance requirements
- Translate functional and non-functional requirements into scalable architectures
- Implement secure-by-design principles (Zero Trust, least privilege, network isolation)
- Develop and maintain infrastructure using Bicep
- Manage environments (dev/test/prod) with consistent configurations
- Implement authentication/authorisation (Entra ID, OAuth2, JWT)
- Build integration layers (APIs, messaging, external systems)
- Ensure high performance, reliability, and observability
- Ensure solutions are developed and maintained in accordance with relevant standards and frameworks.
- Management of source code and iterative development of applications.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to produce application design and architecture artifacts.
- Develop and maintain technical specifications and as built documentation for supported applications and solutions.
- Translate and interpret system requirements in the form of functional specifications and/or user stories into technical specifications.
- Identify areas of opportunity to reduce technical debt and support the improvement of new and existing applications and solutions.
- Serve as an expert on supported and new applications, providing support, guidance and mentoring to other team members where appropriate.
- Provide technical leadership and foster a culture of learning, growth and the delivery of high-quality solutions
Requirements:
- 10+ years experience designing and implementing Azure cloud solutions
- 5+ years experience in developing C# ASP.Net
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), preferably using Bicep
- Experience with authentication and identity (Entra ID, OAuth, OpenID Connect)
- Experience working in DevOps and familiarity with CI/CD
- Understanding of cloud security best practices
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum approaches.
- Understanding of Government or justice services sector
- Experience in complex multi domain environments
- Knowledge of IRAP/Australian Government security frameworks
- Experience with APIM
